RooTxBeeR Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 If they have the ability to strap so it, a lot easier to deal with. If you to one per sub you need to gain match. Edit: so you have the electrical to support 4krms? SnowDrifter Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Question: What do you have for electrical? Strapping them will simplify wiring - you'll only use one bass knob. Although you'll have to strap at 4 ohms, which means 2 ohms per amp. You may see a little gain over running 1 amp at 1 ohm, but not a ton and IMO not enough to justify the cost of 2 amps. Then that leaves this: Either recone your subs to dual 2, trade someone for dual 2s, or buy new subs that are dual 2 ohm. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Bryan Hickok Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Electrical im running 6 yellow top optimas and a mechman alt. So going with what I have it woukd be better to single amp per sub and gain match? I know I could of got better amps etc but at 145 ea from a buddy at sonic electronix I wasnt bitching.
TRTC360 Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 like stated before, running two amps strapped at 2ohm each, so 4 ohm total might be just as loud, or not even noticable vs running 1 amp at 1ohm to the pair. I know a guy that switched from 4 5k's wired to 1ohm a piece to 2 7k's wired at .45 each and he gained .5 on the meter. Impedance rise is a real bitch.
