john253a Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Are you talking about an iso setup If so You mount 2 subs either cone to cone or cone to mag On cone to cone 1 is reversed to the other so you have a push pull effect Cone to mag they both go the same way In an iso setup say cone to cone The box net volume is halved (only 1 sub is in that box) Turning 2 subs into 1 sub On some occasions the power to each is halved so the 2 sub share the power of once ratted power So if you were to do an iso set for 4 sub In a cone to cone setup The net volume would be equal to the net volume of 1 reg ported sub of the same size There are a few good right ups about them If you want to google it
CleanSierra Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 When I get around to it, I'll post a video of my 2 12s in a regular cab full-size pickup setup in an Iso configuration. I may have a few pics as well. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Joe X Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 while I am a fan of SSA, I (and hopefully you too sag) would like to see some designs of what the hell these guys are talking about and how all this reasoning works. Please bestow your wisdom upon us! Some link on the topic if you are really curious: http://www.eng.hifi.pl/dictionary/isobaric.php Bottom line: for a SQ setup on tight fitting space, disadvantages: inefficient and not cost effective.
CleanSierra Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 He already has the subs though Joe, and the amp. It may be best for him to just roll with 2 subs ported and be done with it. I wouldn't rule out doing 4 subs Iso if it were my ride and all of the equipment was already purchased. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Sealed anyone? I'm not sure what you're suggesting after the last few posts..... Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
john253a Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 idd go iso because you dont get shit for second hand stuff over here, so unless i want to pay again, idd use what i have but then again sometimes im just lazy and a sealed box is easy to build and guaranteed to work and last compared to iso, where a miscalculation could mean a recone is needed so if i was the op, idd way up all my options use 2 of them and sell 2 or keep for rainy day sell and get 2 better for that amps full power run iso run sealed then on each do the pros and cons and pick what works the best for the outcome you want
sbg Posted September 1, 2013 Author Report Posted September 1, 2013 Well, 4 cheap 12 subs to be placed in a not too big trunk sounds like bad start to me, OP keep it simple, sell the 4 little subs and get a couple of really better 12s and do a nice box for them, it will be louder than the iso setup, much simpler to build right and will sound nice as well, say a couple of Fi X or SSA GCONs on that power. Yep joe that's what I have been thinking. Looking at the soundqubed 2.5 subs. 160$ each is vary fair in price. 01 focus se 110 amp alt Big 3 sky high and stinger hpm ofc 1/0 Super start platinum AGM (starting) 2 runs of 1/0 Execution audio front to back Kenwood double DIN DDx271 A pillars- orion 4" super tweeter and 2-1" alpines.
