focalrock4life
well after reading around on more forums i realized just resining alone isnt going to add THAT much structural integrity..i would need to use matt..which is just gonna take upairspace..so that a no no..plus this system is for street beating..i mean it is tuned to 28 hz..lol..so that little tenth of a db if any isnt going to matter that much to me..tanks tho guys and the worklog of the install is to come shortly, whenever i get my amp in
geekepunk
Focal, that's for an S10 I'm assuming right?(gotta build to accommodate the stupid "chevy hump") Let me know if you make any vids of it.
Forevrbumpn
dude, honestly if you matted the inside, and say maxed the thickness of glass/resin to 1/4", you are taking off about 1/10th - 1/4 cubic feet, and would raise your port tunning to max 29hz.... That BTL is a crazy sub, and a single 3/4" baffle will vibrate like a mad man, and I see mounting screws popping out in your future- So, adding some glass to the box will definitly help, but for a firt box, damn, thats an awesome build... My first box was some $20 8"s and some guessed 2" ports _with no pvc only the half inch PB I used... lol... But that was almost 15yrs ago now :-x I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy. meade916
glass the inside, it wont take ANY noticeable airspace. Do a little glass and a few braces and you will be fine trust me. You can resin only if you want but thats not gonna make it much stronger. A little glass matt over MDF goes a long way but add a few 2x3's or something just to be safe on the flexing. BTW: EXCELLENT JOB bro. :^ Im diggin your style. ok man i trust you wouldnt steer me wrong..so umm would it be beneficial to glass just the inside of the front baffle where the 18 is located, because thats the only place im worried about mad flex the other places are short and pressed against somethign but the baffling is just kinda chillen there so should i just glass that part?? and any steps you have to offer..like working in small sections at a time or sanding or what?? thanks everyone!
