My dad is anal about scratches on it so I was going to pick up some spray on or roll on bed liner to do rail caps. What brands should I look at? I just want something easy to do that will help stop scratches. Budget is about $30 to do just the rail caps. I have a plastic liner on tailgate and inside bed that works good enough. I never used rustoleums spray liner. I've used duplicolor spray liner. They're probly similar, but they don't have that grip to it. KiKaZz74 Posted September 5, 2013 Author Report Posted September 5, 2013 guys im just looking for something cheap for just the top rails. not doing the whole bed as i would like too. max budget is like $30 roll on or spray. something i can get at like walmart, menards, or farm and fleet. when i say spray im thinking aresol. not paint gun. if i had the money i would just get it professionally done but it is $650 to do my bed and rails. not including cost of repair of my rusted out wheel wells that are patched for now. if i can get enough of it for the $30 there are spots on my frame where the multiple coats of undercoat spray has worn off so im wanting to respray them. should i use bed liner or just the rustoleum rust control matte black stuff ive been using on my bumper. Grabbing a roll of tape to tape off and the prep wipes. Gonna sand it with 140-180grit. Hopefully it turns out good. 3-5 coats. KiKaZz74 Posted September 8, 2013 Author Report Posted September 8, 2013 heres the results of the duplicolor bed armor. it does have a rubbery texuture. hopefully it last for a while. it definitely turned out good i think tho. taped off ~6" from the bottom lip inside rail. sanded with 150grit and then i hit it with a real fast rub of 80grit i think it turned out great. 2 light coats and a 3rd medium and a 4th heavy coat. leave any comments you want guys.
