Alex Hermanowicz Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Is it bad for the amp to run 2 level 4 15" DC Audio subs on their 5.0k amp? Is it safe to run like that?
tacomaguy1 Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 For the amp...depends on what ohm load you want to wire the subs down to For the subs....depends on lots of factors Team Flex Issues
CJ18 Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 You would be running 2 1400w subs on a 5000w amp. XLs are the better choice for the 5k.
Alex Hermanowicz Posted September 6, 2013 Author Report Posted September 6, 2013 Well i just wanna be safe cause eventually im going to go bigger but if i can just turn the amp down im just gonna get that. And with that 5.0k amp dont i include the speakers into that?
CJ18 Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 You dont just turn the amp down. If you are like 99.99999% of any car audio addicts, you wont turn it down, you will turn it up. If you get 1 dual 1 ohm Level 4s and wire the 5k at 1 ohm, the Level 4s will probably be ok, but that is completely up to the install and how you handle the volume. If something were to happen and you called in asking us to fix the subs and tell us that you have a 5000w amp on a 1400w subs, you knowingly over powered your subs. This is why I recommend the XLs. If you want 2 Level 4s, the 3.5k is the right amp for those.
Alex Hermanowicz Posted September 6, 2013 Author Report Posted September 6, 2013 Alright. Yeah i was just wondering what i do. I figured id rather go more on the amp then completely over power it.
Skater229 Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 mmm, XL's... 2010 Chevy HHR Panel (Work in progress) Pioneer AVHX-5800BHS McLaren MLM880's and MLT2's 2ea per door on a DC 175.4 Two DC Audio M4 Level 5 15's On A DC5K Alt CES 200/270+ 4ea Banks of Maxwell 2.7v 3000f caps for a total of 2000f 1ea XS 3100 and 2ea NSB FT170 Batts for 450+ah Not a HUGE build but here it is... Alex Hermanowicz Posted September 6, 2013 Author Report Posted September 6, 2013 Im still debating if i want those subs though. Cause at first i was thinking those American Bass XFL15 because if im not mistaken im pretty sure those are cheaper and im trying to not kill my wallet too much. But if i get the XFL's idk if i should go with that DC Amp or the American Bass amp
Beanz Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Or quit being cheap and getting the subs that can handle the power more better for the amp that you getting.. Think of it this way how much more will you spend on recones and sending in the subwoofers. Or paying that extra 100-200 and not have to worry about blowing out your subs.. Of course there is user error but if you set your gains correctly and tune properly you'll be bumping for years That's why they don't deliver. Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait. You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do.
Alex Hermanowicz Posted September 6, 2013 Author Report Posted September 6, 2013 Yeah. Eventually ill have 2 level 6's. thats eventually though. I wanna get the DC's no doubt but after i price everything i wanna get ill decide what sub im gonna get. Im more than likely getting the DC's but always gotta have a Plan B. but ya more than likely no doubt getting that 3.5k amp then. How much is that amp?
