i appreciate it man thanks....but you look like your site could use some help too. I honestly really would like to hear from someoen who has been there, done that. When i say that i mean been in a situation where you get the type of traffic I GET......not some generic site somewhere. Not talking just to you bro, just anyone in general who is tryin to help. Like i said i need serious web guys if there is one to help. If your site hasnt broke 1 million on alexa i dont see how you (not you, anyone reading) can help.

well.. i was just saying bro, i dont know what internet speed you are on. I double checked and comcast offers 10 mbit download in sacramento. i dont know if you much on internet speed, but if you had all your videos on your home server.. it would download it from your home server and not be on here for storage.. you have have the whole video section on a total different server and have it linked to SMD through the HTML files..

It could save you money.. i have 5 mbit here at my house. so, i could see what 10 is like

but, i didnt design my site.. mike did.. and it is no where close to done.. it is just something he through together for when i go to shows. I didnt have a great designer like david to do mine ... but anyway.. if you had a few terabit hard drives in a linux box at your house. it could save ya on what you paying.

But the main thing is sales.. yolu gotta sale your site, and get people like ebay or anyone that is in car audio have a banner on your site.. get a few sponcors or people that support SMD..

I honestly dont know how they sell 3000 gigz of transfer sooo damn cheap, every webhost company I have talked to says that 700 gigz of transfer is ALOT.

a dedicated server starts around 349 a month and you dont get no where near 3000 gigz a month of transfer.

do you get mysql and php and phpmyadmin to play with??? never mind I see they do, had to dig for it.

the 1and1 idea is probably a good feasibly sollution, when i was admining a mobile phone site that has alot more traffic then here we were on the same provider and never had issue and the rates were very nice.

I'd give some more advise but i dont "own" a large site i've just been affiliated with a few. hopefully you all can come up with somethign as i love this place while im at work.

i didnt mean it like that LOL......i am just tryin to get with people that have had major traffic and use a lot of bandwith. Usually if you site doesnt even show up on Alexa, i dont even see how you could understand what im going thru. If the 1 and 1 is the real deal then COOL ill look into it and i appreciate it bro.

700 isnt much for video it will chock the fuck out of a shared server if not set up properly tho. Ive gotten a few emails and phone calls over the years. infact yahoo shut me down the first of this month after I uploaded the west coast sesion finaly film. Thats after I told them what I was doing and paid extra for unlimited bandwidth and server space. check 1an1 out for your selfs www.1and1.com ive had very limited down time. The bigst pain in the ass has been the billing and they refuse to change the billing date for me. The Tech support has acully answered all my questions. The waite time was at wrst 10 minutes. Unlike yahoo were there standard wait time for tech suport is 30 minutes. Steve downed a video from the server a while back and said its one of the faster connections he down loaded from. I think Shon had a problem in the beging with them throttling his bandwidth a bit but 1 phone call fixed that. I would call them and ask them some questions. Ive used them for 4 or 5 years now i think. I do wish I was useing something local were I could walk in and talk to a person face to face.

How much in real money is it going to take to keep everything as is?

I'l throw something out there, this site has over 3,300 members, everytime I log on there's between 120-300 people online, night or day.

Without searching too hard the only way of donating which I can see is on the main page, surely if it was a easier to find more people might be tempted to donate? maybe a mass PM inviting donations might provide as much revenue as one or two banners, and a lot less work too?

The amount of knowledge on here is staggering, just think of how many installs the members must have under their belt altogether surely a couple of quid (or dollars, whatever ) isn't too much to ask, not like you'd be twisting peoples arms for it? (I'm sure a lot of newer members such as myself probably don't know where/how or even if they can donate)

I know regular donations can be more difficult to get but it might bale you out quickly and relatively easily untill you can get something more long term together (I'll chuck a little bit in when I get home from work, It'll be cheaper per hour of entertainment than a playstation game the amount of time I spend on here even if I've only posted 6 times.)
