I'd recommend CA glue to adhear the fabric because it comes out clean which means less sanding.

additionally use a thin fabric, fleece is so thick and requires sanding. Instead I'd use underarmor type fabric. Very stretchy and still has a decent amount of strength

I don't know why everyone thinks bolting is such a complicated task. Drill holes, apply bolt with washer and lock washer, apply other washer and lock washer, apply nut. I get that question twenty times a day on the door pod videos, I don't understand where the confusion lies?

the confusion lies in actual placement of the bolts, people are afraid of the door panel not being stable with just bolts, as in flimsy with a big heavy pod on it. Everything seems easy once you have done it a few times, but before that first time, everything is pretty much a shot in the dark without a walkthrough.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I started making a mold today but I may have to cut up the door some. The mold will work but the pods will be sticking out quite far in some places becauee my door has a pocket and a stock speaker pod. I guess I'll see how the mold/pod comes out first.

I've got the molds done but we I did a test fit its hitting the glove box... If I cut into the door and mold would the mids sound any different? Like lacking mid bass?

I have some more pictures in my build log but these are pictures of the test fit. The top ring at the front is hit the glove box and the back ring on the top was hit the seat. The back one can be fixed without cutting but the the front one will deny access to the glove box. I would like to get the pods not to stick out as far as leg room will be a concern for the passenger I don't mind on the drivers side. It will be 4 pwx 6.5s in each door and they have a 3.1" mounting depth I believe.

Going to try something a little different. If this doesn't work I still have the molds of the door panels. 20131013_174350.jpg but all the speakers will run across the bottom now and it should look a little cleaner than the last design. The back two are going to be really close to the seat but they will not be hitting the seat. I just need to find a way to mount the rings now.
