Karkov Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 I switched head units, needed the bypass chip, bought it, installed it, didn't work properly, added relay, now everything works except the sub amp. Help? Well to get my chip to allow me to watch DVD's while driving and send a signal through the remote wire I had to add a relay on the remote wire from the chip. (with it's own power/ground of course) Now i can watch video while driving and my highs amp works but not the sub amp. I switched RCA's from amp to amp and that didn't work. Checked all connections, switched remote wires, tried grounding the RCA's behind the deck or whatever and nothing seems to work. Almost as if the sub amp is fried or something. The deck gives a "amp error" message after a minute or so but the highs amp keeps right on playing. The sub amp powers up and lights up etc. etc. but does not play. Checked wires behind head unit, all battery connections and swapped all wires around going to the amps and the sub amp simply will not work. Absolutely not sure why and there really is no logical reason as to why. Narrowed it down to being the amp pretty much but it worked fine before switching head units. Anyone got any suggestions or ideas what i could try next? Sub amp worked before switching head units. (When I first installed the bypass chip it would not allow video watching or send power through the remote wire to the amps IF the remote wire FROM the amps was hooked up. Only when remote wire FROM the amps was removed would the chip work as it's supposed to.) 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Karkov Posted September 18, 2013 Author Report Posted September 18, 2013 90% sure now that it's the amp. Unless someone has something else to figure it out. Hooked sub amp to different battery in vehicle, used different power and ground and remote wire. Still lights up etc. but no output. Hooked the highs amp to each sub and all subs work fine. All RCA's coming from HU work great going into the highs amp. Out of just about everything in my vehicle the ONLY thing I can not get to work properly ATM is the sub amp. Amp is fried? Right assumption? Is there a way to know for sure? It worked great before removing old HU and installing new one and it still lights up etc. never smoked, never smelt smoke, amp still does not smell even when in my hands, amp lights up, does not go into protect, have not blown any fuses, nothing rattle from within the amp, all amps always set with DD-1 and CC-1. I would really like to believe that nothing is wrong with the amp but maybe I am just hoping for the best because there is no clear signs of it being toasted except for it not producing power...... 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Karkov Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 Try swapping your front rcas to your sub amp. What head unit I swapped through all RCA cables themselves to rule them out and made sure I did the same with all RCA outputs of head unit. Everything has seemed to work as it should except the sub amp. Karkov Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 double check all of your subwoofer amp settings maybe you turned it down to gain match the new headunit and forgot in the excitement also the wiring to your sub, take a close look try hooking some rcas off your phone or something with output to the sub amp to ensure it is the headunit giving you problems you have a new headunit there is a good chance it is something with that. check the bass level and look in the manual troubleshooting I believe I have done those things but it doesn't hurt to check them all one more time. Rmichael91 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 What amp are you running for the subs? Been a few instances someone had a strappable, hit it over to slave on the switch and wouldn't get any output but powered up. Just a thought.
Karkov Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 What amp are you running for the subs? Been a few instances someone had a strappable, hit it over to slave on the switch and wouldn't get any output but powered up. Just a thought. ATM was running a single RF T 2500 on them until the BC5500D arrives. Yea, tried that hoping it was something simple like that, tried settings on amp a few times but can't get anything. I can have 2 subs wired into one amp and 2 wired into another and literally take the sub out RCA coming from the head unit and unplug from first amp and plug into second amp (not while playing, thats a no no) and the other amp will work but not the T2500. switched ALL wires around going into the one amp and vice versa, same outcome, rear channel RCA's, same thing, front RCA, same thing. Keep in mind nothing is hot, and voltage is sitting at high 13's. sub amp (t2500) not in protect, (not sure if it does that when something internally is messed up or not). So i am thinking it is the amp so it's literally the only thing that is failing ATM. been through everything multiple times hoping at some point it will just work but no luck there either. /sigh 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. bassman619 Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 Have u you checked the output at the speaker wire leads on the amp with a dmm? Check ground on the amp ? See u have switch rcas around another thing is check the phase shift switch and input sensitivity switch..usually if either of those switches is not completely set to ine side it will keep the amp from putting out sound..happen3d to me before You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries
