I keep telling myself that but every time I mess with CA glue I forget to wear gloves or wash.

Then I have some glue on my hand for the next week or so.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

videos i had watched said to spray the surface you are laying the glue on and then press it down and spray again. now i know for next time

when ive never done somthing before all i can do is go off of what the internet tells me.

the sub is installed, took nearly an hour to get the damn thing mounted in the box. doing a virtical mount in theback seat is hard.

bass boost 0, gains 0% (dial on amp), all deck settings at 0 or off. max volume on deck provided next to zero bass, so little excursion that you really couldnt see the cone moving.

deck at +4 to sub, amp gain at 50% (dial on amp); at max deck volume it sounded about the same as my 15" 350W sub i had in there to get by with.

max volume on deck, 50% amp gain, +4 head unit, 1/3 bass boost; gave decent bass but still not as loud as i want.

so here is my question. how high of a gain should i do on this thing? i feel that i need to MAX the gain to get any power into the sub. How can i tell in real time if the signal is clipping?

I modded the box and added a second layer of wood on the inside of the drop down port thus correcting my error when building the box originally. this brings the box to a 32hz tune @ 7.27 cubic. the bass response sounds much better with this change, its able to more accurately reproduce differences in bass frequencies where as the previous build was kind of muddy through out certain frequencies.

with no bass boost the dust cap is getting warm, im not sure what to do about this? how hot is to hot? i would like to know a temperature that is to hot so i can monitor it to be sure it does not catch fire again.

my voltage is holding steady at 13.5V which it did not do before, im sure the bass boost was causing the amp to try and pull way to much power and that is why my alt could not keep up.

watch the videos by showtimeSPL on youtube. I put the sims in, get everything lined up then lift up on the spider with the shims holding the recone in the air while I lay down the glue. The spiders are the most important part, because this is the basis of lining up the coil. Once you commit, you can never go back. Definitely switch to xrays or actual plastic shims you can buy on fixmyspeaker. Something that goes all the way around instead of you adding thickness to 4 points of the coil is more accurate and will ensure a tighter, more snug fit.

Sorry to hear about your re-cone,I made the same mistake when I did my first re-cone,and my sub is installed the same way as yours, its a fucking bitch with two hands and only room for one person. Any chance you might have something small stuck in the motor/coil gap?

get the most you can out of this recone. You gotta spend another 200 and wait a mo. for one =[

i do not hear any noise while its playing so maybe its not off by much and maybe it will be fine or maybe in a week its going to unwind itself into a mess... in either case im not getting the volume i want out of this so i think i might need to look at larger subs or more subs.

Why not look into a new enclosure?

That might be the whole problem.

you should be getting plenty of volume out of that, I like your setup minus kicker.
