Dylank811
far be it from a forum n00b to tell anybody whats what but that port looks fine to me, if anything i would make the port longer and tune a bit lower, but again what do i know? I played around with quite a few tunings, but the curve looked good on this one. I'm positive db all the way down to 30hz, and my F3 is like 27hz so it's still gonna slap those low notes. At least most of them. 2004 Ford Mustang GTPioneer DEH-P7200HD head unitMach 460 Factory System Cadence FXA1600.2 Cadence S2W10 Cadence 4 AWG wiring Ported box, 2 cubes, 32 hertz
boom50cal
Box looks fine to me too, if you wanted to do round ports, I've had great experience with 3 inch PVC ports, 2 of them I could play all the way down to 26hz with a LOT of authority... But big difference in equipment. 26-50 was really nice and smooth. Fi SSD 10 and a Kicker ZX750.1. Btw, whats the exhaust setup on this car? Dylank811
Thanks for the heads up. I did consider doing a 3" Precision Port with it, but for some reason I just want a square port this time around. I used a round port on my last enclosure. And yeah the quality of your equipment far exceeds mine lol. I'm really interested to see how far a proper setup goes with this build since it's lower grade equipment. It'll really show how important equipment pairing and a quality box are. On 800w, I'm pretty sure this woofer is gonna get pretty crazy...if I don't burn it up. This is also the first time I'll be firing into my trunk so I'm interested to see how that affects the bass waves. Of course if I don't like it, this is also my first square box so I can just turn it around into the seats. The exhaust is cat back Borla Stinger exhaust. And off-road X-pipe. Has a nice grumble at idle and gets loud if you lay into the throttle. 2004 Ford Mustang GTPioneer DEH-P7200HD head unitMach 460 Factory System Cadence FXA1600.2 Cadence S2W10 Cadence 4 AWG wiring Ported box, 2 cubes, 32 hertz
Dylank811
Got my box built this weekend. It ended up taking twice as long as expected, as does any project! Here's the box. I decided to use birch again. I'm glad I took the time to mach it up and do a test fit before permanent assembly because I could not fit it below my Mach 460 enclosure at its original height of 11 inches. I chopped 1/4 inch off the top of the box and it fits like a glove. I should mention that I had to remove the bottom rear seat cushion and slide it through the opening in the back of my seats to get it into the trunk though. It doesn't fit through the trunk opening. I am very happy with the tuning of this box. Hits hard and low. I've got some wiper flex around 26 to 28 hertz or so. The sub cutout and the port were both done with a 20 year old Craftsman jigsaw. Not too shabby. Edit: Before anyone mentions it, I sealed all the interior edges of the box, but that was after I took these pictures. The box is airtight. Subwoofer barely squeezes into the box. A quick look at equipment. The temporary arrangement. I gotta say I'm quite impressed and satisfied with the results of the build thus far. The sub is taking 800w (200 over RMS) of power for long periods of time and doesn't seem to mind it too much. The amp seems to get pretty hot, but I'll assume that's normal. It hasn't gone into protect yet. The woofer has an impressive amount of excursion, although it does seem like it may have a bit of mechanical noise. I think that's what it is. I can't hear it in the cabin though. I'm getting some decent flex from the woofer. More than I expected from a low power system and it sounds precise, tight, and loud to me. Now I just need to make up my mind on the finish and find a tasteful way to run my wires. Open to suggestions on wiring as well. I don't want to fabricate any beauty boards though, so the wiring will remain visible. I'll probably be uploading a video within the week. 2004 Ford Mustang GTPioneer DEH-P7200HD head unitMach 460 Factory System Cadence FXA1600.2 Cadence S2W10 Cadence 4 AWG wiring Ported box, 2 cubes, 32 hertz

boom50cal
That's hella clean man. I know about that projects always taking twice as long thing... me and cj92 put a double din in his stang on saturday and it ended up taking like 2 1/2 hours lol. If you have a router, I would suggest getting a 1/2 inch round over bit and hitting the sides of the port with it just to smooth it up some. Oh, and VIDS please On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole.
Dylank811
Thanks guys! I do intend on routing all of the edges of the box but I wanted to hold off until I decide if how to finish it in case I do carpet. I don't think my carpeting skills are good enough to cover rounded edges. Really considering matching my car with Crimson Red paint and a Champaign port. Still need to find a uniform way to route my wires to get rid of the spaghetti wire look. I got a few short videos of some slowed songs today. Still need some more material and then I'll sew them together into one woofer porn video. This sub takes a hell of a lot abuse and seems to like it. 2004 Ford Mustang GTPioneer DEH-P7200HD head unitMach 460 Factory System Cadence FXA1600.2 Cadence S2W10 Cadence 4 AWG wiring Ported box, 2 cubes, 32 hertz
