95neon_thumper82
so I'm going to start here where things actually start to take shape... this is with the baffle in place. low side ports in... tuned to 25 hz with 2 4 inch ports. high side port and the lid. high side tuned to 70hz. one side of the low ports are flared here... took the opportunity to make sure the subs would fit properly and that everything would be good to go... then I flared the other end of the ports. so I decided since I'm going to be using plexiglass I may want to figure out a way to hold it in. I came up with this... its not what I went with in the end but close enough got the high ports installed in the top flared on both sides and painted on the interior side. its starting to come together rather well eh? a little out of order but its my log so I can do that... the high side ports painted pre lid install... the interior is partially painted and the low side ports are shot... I probably should have waited to put the port bracing in but you live and you learn the high side intrusions from the low side are also painted... then it was time to warm over the outside made a dress piece for the high side ports on the outside to purdy everything up and a lil bit of bondoe before I could start to spray. its gonna be a lot of pics... very lil explanation lol. this part took forever. I wanted perfection. here's the highside port dress. a lil bondo to make everything look like one after a little more sanding I moved it outside to start spraying the exterior gloss white. after hella coats and a bit of color sanding I decided to see what the trim looked like on it... a better shot after I got it back in the garage. you can see I wasn't quite dome with painting yet... this is about when I said fuck it and went with a roller and paint brush to finish the paint. my final plexiglass insert cover piece drilled and routed amd ready to paint you can see the plexi back there and I'm finishing the drilling http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/FB_IMG_13809596978959998_zps63476c53.jpg taped off the parts I didn't want sprayed and gave the low side port area a little color. http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/20131006_215510_zps9e4e63df.jpg took the masking off and got this shot. I ended up with a little over spray so I decided to leave the little bit on so I could roll on another coat of paint on the top and not fuck up the work I just did. http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/20131006_224149_zps2aaab515.jpg then started tearing the masking off the inside ports... http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/20131006_231051_zps828b1402.jpg put the external trim on and the cover piece just about done but a shot of what the end result will be... http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/20131007_001119_zps56e3845a.jpg the interior just about all pretty... just like I imagined it... http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/20131007_012904_zps4658be17.jpg Hillbilly gave me the idea of mirrors... so I ran with it... the low side mirror is still there the high side one got exed because the box didn't like it and tore it loose http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/20131007_015845_zps0015a97a.jpg the highside one that got exed. http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/20131007_020208_zps105bf5aa.jpg the whole picture of it just about done http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/20131007_020139_zpsc59f8404.jpg plexi in and I'll call her done... http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/20131009_124733_zps9027b4be.jpg its ready for my back seat till I get it sold. 95neon_thumper82
here's the low power video. you can hear the mirror on the highside rattling something fierce but that same night on the way home it got broken free amd ended up plugging the low side ports up so I pulled it out . the wiring looks wack but I was waiting for farris to get their shipment of 12g in so I just kinda winged it till I could get my shit right. enjoy. sorta hard to believe that a box o fail could turn out so well isn't it? haha... even at the low power level it still gets all my mirrors moving... I'm currently plabing a sealed trunk sixth or possible eighth order at 1.6kw so stay tuned Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! 95neon_thumper82
actually I'm sort of in love with this box... I'm pushing about 175w in series in theory from my old dual amp(yeah the one I almost started a fire with) and it gets down... I lost my rearview a while back, damn high bass tones. but yeah literally everything else is shakin at least a little bit. but at full power I'm sure I'll hate the idea of selling it. But I'm considering an eighth order for my current 2 mtx 7k's why? because why not!? lol Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! n8ball2013
hopefully you dont take this the wrong way but you really need to work on your cuts if you plan on selling boxes. That trim piece you made has hella visible wave to it. then youve got some of your trim rounded over some of it not. exposes screw holes all around. if you are selling these things you should really take that extra step and the finish work will bring more money.
