jarrius Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 So im thinking of actully designing my first box lol well i think i may have chosen the wrong type but meh only way to learn is to do(IMO) but before i do start i want yalls opinion will a single HDC3 12 copper coils work in a bandpass box. Also will i be able to use a aeroport for the port seeing from what im understanding it seems a bit easer to use them and there adjustable but i could be wrong. So any input would be great and any advice on what ratio i should use will be awsome also. I did email Soundqubed to get what they will say but i figured with yalls knowladge i would ask here also. 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole

jarrius Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 Only 1200w from my prime 1200 lol And if I do a 6th I have no idea where to start. 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
jarrius Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 So AMI you suggested a 6th order. If im correct that is pretty much 1 ported box firing in to another ported box. If i do this the first box (not knowing what to call it so i will call it the inside box) should be at like 1.75^ft firing in to a 2.50 to 2.70^ft. If i can do this i will use Aeroports and will need help with tuning. the only problem i can see is how the hell amd i going to fit that in my sonic lol 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
john253a Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 You don't have to do 1 ported into the other You can do both ported to atmosphere
jarrius Posted October 16, 2013 Author Report Posted October 16, 2013 What you mean john? Build a box with 2 different tuned ports? As in 1 port will let's say tuned to 35hz and one tuned to 50hz and have the 2 different ports showing? 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole

Krakin Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 If I can't pronounce the name, I can't make it. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
CleanSierra Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Yeah that sub has an EBP(Efficiency bandwidth product) of like 140, which heavily suggested a ported box and NOT a sealed box(which is also ideal for a 4th order bandpass). Just a little side comment, EBP is determined by dividing the Fs of the sub by the Qes. That is why AMI suggested a 6th order, since those enclosures suit a high EBP sub like that suit a regular ported box(which is a 4th order btw, but I dont want to confuse you) Like John mentioned, you can have two it done two ways. You can port one chamber INTO the other chamber and that is referred to as a series tuned bandpass. You can also have two chambers that are separate from each other and tuned to their own frequencies. This is known as a Duall reflex bandpass. The idea behind this is that you port one chamber to what your desired low end response is, and the other chamber for higher end response. You're effectively creating the pass band for where your sub will perform. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
