Good cheap used street legal dirt bike

KTM (if it's already street registered), Suzuki DRZ400, Kawasaki KLX250S (no highway riding) are all good first bike options.

Also the older DR350 air cooled bikes were pretty bullet proof and really inexpensive to buy and operate.

What's a good CC to start off at. And if I get a dirt bike instead of a dual, 2 stoke vs 4 stroke ?

An for the CBR, this is also one bike I want next to a R6. They sound super nice

Best thing to do is to walk into the dealer and see what you can get used for a first bike and make some payments till you feel comfortable in knowing how to ride and handle the bike, and then turn around and take it back in to trade on something more to your liking with more power and newer. Buying a bike means having to put all of your money down for one and leaving you without any gear to ride it in risking some serious damage to yourself. You will want a helmet, gloves, jacket and boots to start out in and craigslist is an awesome place to look for good gear on the cheap.

An I was honestly looking on CL for local ads. Ill try and go to a dealer soon and see what they provide but I also went to car lots and most of them had bikes for super much. I remember the lowes bike was 7gs but then again maybe I went to the wrong spot

You'll get looks from a lot of people riding a ninja 250 or cbr 250 that want to be you even though they are the entry level bikes. The one thing i did not expect was all the compliments i get on my ninja 250 from people, and there is nothing like getting the nice bike compliment as your standing next to it from a hot chick driving by. I don't know if you'll get many compliments from the dual purpose bikes but regardless though, bikes are a blast to ride as long as you ride within your capabilities.

When you mean dual bike, like dual sport? My dad wants to get a dual sport BMW ? I think that's what it's called. Pretty much why I want a dirt bike first is because I wanna learn the shifting. I drive a 5Spd car n idk how different t it is.

Any suggestions on dual sports ? And is dirt bikes on street a bad idea or do you just suggest to keep it on dirt , cause well that's why they were made

Here's ours...they aren't meant for long distance rides, not the most comfortable seats lol

But they're light, agile and fun for blasting around town on. Keep that in mind, not sure what kind of riding you plan on doing

^^^That's an awesome bike.

My brother sold his KLX250S after not riding it for a while. He also just bought a brand new KTM 250XC-W for hare scrambles. Had some registration left on the KLX so he went to the DMV and they transferred it to the KTM no questions asked. 250 2 stroke street legal bike!

Not really supposed to happen here either. I have many friends that have tried and been denied. Can get through the cracks sometimes though so he figured he'd try..

Last year there was a 2010 CR450F for sale with a title and street registration here as well. Once they're registered it's not a problem, but that initial one is luck of the draw.

He was shocked.
