While wiring up an AQ2200 amplifier, One of the speaker wires fell and hit ground while the amp was playing. the amp made a pop sound then went into protect. Now the amp turns on, but is stuck in protect and no sound comes out. I took off the back of the amp and this is what I see.

It is labeled CHASSIS. Can anyone tell me what that is? I believe its a resistor, and if that would cause the amp to go into protect like that? and where I would get something to replace it. Thanks!

the yellow thing that looks like an ohm symble is a capacitor and it looks like the diod closest to it is gone too

Okay cool. The diode should be something I can get at like radio shack right?

and is there any way to find out the specs of that cap? I have the skill to be able to resolder the new components.

Okay. From what I understand, A diode is a diode. there are no specs on that or anything correct? I should just be able able to get a standard diode and resolder it in there right? How could I find the value of the capacitor? and where could I get a new one?

Thanks for the help so far gents!

There should be some ratings on it. See those bands around it and D30?

I don't know the band code for diodes though.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
