The funniest things you have seen in car audio!

Recommended Posts

Usually never read those DB claims personally but my friend is looking for an amp on FB and his buddy commented saying his 2 12" soundstream spiders on an $800 RF amp is hitting 348db...I said that's crazy since the loudest SPL vehicle record is about 180db, then he said its dbc so cut in half he is doing 174db LMFAO...I proceeded to post a YT video of twisted and said "so you are louder than this guy?" OK

ha! how long did it take him to do that math?

I'm gonna guess 8 seconds..

From comments for this video: (Also the video is a bit ridiculous as well.)

CreepyPastaDemon

Never place the subs right up against the back seat!! It can damage the sub.
Just a helpful tip for all the audio noobs out there. :3

Paul Rowe

lmao the only noob is u having to edit ya post coz ya cant spell !!! take a seat

CreepyPastaDemon

You are an idiot.

Fernando MCC

Wow, a grammar troll....with a really bad grammar. Check this out: It's YOU, not "u". YOUR, not "ya". BECAUSE, not "coz", YOUR (again), not "ya", CAN'T, not "cant". Get a life, you retard.

SokeSleezy

How does it damage the sub? I'm curious.

CreepyPastaDemon

Because the bass waves will have no air to travel, making them bounce off the back seat and come right back, hitting sub, which can damage it over time.

SokeSleezy
Interesting. Thanks for breaking that down.

  • 3 weeks later...

Working on someone's car today, basic amplifier and subwoofer install. They have a JL K2500.1 and an older dual 4 JL 10''. The woofer is fucked beyond compare, both coils read below .8 and have some nasty rubbing, surround has holes in it, and the spider is ripped. Not to mention, the tiny ass sealed enclosure is full of holes and it only had two screws holding the woofer in. Fuck me.

Owner said "We had it in a different car and it didn't sound good."

No shit, the gain is on max and you've got a blown subwoofer in a cardboard shit house. I laughed pretty hard, then almost cried, because I'm sure he'll be expecting good results when he picks it up later. rant/

I just do small install for the locals who hear about me. No matter how much I try to explain basic stuff to these high school kids, they just don't get it. Although he understood what "you've got a blown sub" meant

I didn't take any. He's supposed to come back with a 12 for me to swap out the 10 with. I'll definitely take a few pictures then.

I was going to make a comment about how funny high school kids are around car audio...then I thought back to when I was in highschool and didn't know crap, and knew literally no one that was knowledgeable. Props for at least trying to explain it to them to educate the little guys.
