3000 kelvins for fog for sure you will get a glare with a hotter Kelvin rating. Thank about it like this when it is foggy it is harder to see when you have high beams on. Throws a glare. But everyone has there preference. (Kelvin is the ratings for bulbs)

Some people match their fogs with the headlamps for the aesthetics... but the people that use 3k fogs do that because 6k light reflects off fog making it harder to see THROUGH fog, 3k light penetrates it better, and is also more natural looking to your eyes.

i hate the mix and match HID's. makes me cringe every time i see a lexus or civic or whatever in my area that has had that done purposely. whats the point of putting such a low color temp bulb in for the fogs? it will just cause them to lose their primary function. i mean i guess its just for "the look", but still...

"Yellow" or 3k fogs are actually better than 6k for fogs.

really??? but i thought that 5000k-ish yielded best light output.

As far as color goes 5000k is the most neutral or white. Lower goes yellow, higher goes blue. I guess the tradeoff is that 5000k results in less visible light output. You see anything they're directed at, but they don't appear to be pumping out as much light as something higher on the scale.

I like them though, I will pretty much stick to 5000k on anything. I hate the blue look, the purple look, and I hate the yellow look.

After reading through the posts, here are the pros that I saw. I didn't post cons because they'd just appear in the other bulb's pros.

3000k-penetrates the fog better, less glare,

6000k- matching for aesthetics,

Alright.. So I think my mind is made up then..3000k it is.. Thanks guys :drinks:

A little school here. Kelvin ratings started for Fluorescent bulbs. It is how much heat energy it took to excite the phosphorus in the bulb. The hotter the bulb the more blue tint they gave off example 6500 Kelvins. The lower the heating of the phosphorus the more yellow tint 3000 kelvin like a normal light bulb. HID lighting just picked up on using this rating to give people a better example when they are sold. Some states will not allow a HID over 10000. These would be the super blue to purpleish tint. Have a family member in High Way Patrol he informed on this. Just rambling here!!!! During tornado warnings!

Kelvin is a measurement of heat!

Didn't read the thread. Get 4300k if you can. Its a sort of off-white. 3000k looks like someone peed in the headlight IMO. And I'm not a huge fan of blue HIDs. Especially fogs
