Wouldn't the cold help the in the amps to, they have to keep superconducters chilled with liquid nitrogen.

Thats just my personal preference for cold weather operation.

No doubt the electronics run better, it's the rubber speaker and foam sub surrounds i don't want moving to much when really cold.

i wonder if your amps get hot fast it will build up condensation and water = bad ????

In winter air is ussually to dry for that to happen i would think.

Unless you get a warm day with a high dewpoint and shit gets a frost on it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Been about 4 degreesF* here. With -20 to -25 windchill. I let my truck warm up for about 5-7 minutes. I have noticed that my subs don't push like they should when very cold. (If I don't let my truck warm up) it's a big difference. I don't see a increase in my sound at all. Unless I drive for awhile during winter and let my can warm up it does seem a bit louder. If you live in a very cold area during the winter ( like for me, Minnesota) I wouldn't go ham on your subs right away. Push it to 12-15 max volume for 5-6 minutes or even 3 ish minutes. Then I would turn it up. That's what I've been doing, I know my subs are very cold, if rather work them at a low level for a bit to get them warmed up a tad.

Been in the high teens here. Full tilting. Still no issues

I think the cold dropped my peak. Sounds loudest around 26hz right now

I'm taking it real easy on my stuff if i run it at all right now.

It is -27c (-16f) outside and the surround on the SA-8v2 is pretty stiff at those temperatures.

Giving it 1/2 and hour minimum to warm up before i even think of going over 10 on the volume,

Getting alot of belt slip* from these temp's also, might throw the factory alternator back on it never makes a sound.

* Sent an e-mail to mechman that was there diagnosis from my description.
