Sound Deadener.. Is it worth it?

Recommended Posts

I do not use roofing material but I know there are members on here that have. I do not like the smell of tar based products in my Jeep.

  • 3 weeks later...

It's the first thing someone should do if they consider upgrading the audio in their car.

The cheapest deadener is either SoundDeadenerShowdown or Second Skin.

Depends on what you mean with cheapest, best results with the least money spend, then use the ones suggested.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

if a bear shits in the woods ... does it make a sound ?

YES ITS WORTH IT !!! thats the very first thing i did when i started the build for the edge. you will notice a difference in eve na stock system when you sound deaden your car. also you will notice a dfifference in road noise.

From what I've researched, you can effectively reduce sound from vibrations with as little as 1/4 coverage on your panels. Depending on what is vibrating depends on what you need/ want to dampen. If your roof is flexing and you can hear it but that's all you hear, just deaden the roof. That being said , how effective is gtmat? I'm just looking stop audible vibrations, not compete.
