Can someone explain how to find the square inch per cubic feet when designing port?

Using Small's port area formula you would want 20.25 sq in of port for this driver at 35 Hz. If you use a well flared/aero port you could probably cut that back to closer to 16 sq in. I would suggest you use the 3.5" wide port for greater port area.

Looks like I need to start redesigning my enclosure. Thanks for the advise. I am also considering doing a forward firing port and sub, but until I get the sub in hand to measure the actual size of the magnet I don't know if I can make it work. Also am I doing the additional port length correctly by adding half of the width (3.5) to the length for the 90 degree bend?

Yeah I wish I knew what exactly a "reasonable radius" was that he was referring to in that paper. I would guess its like a 1/4", with fully flared slot ports I try for a flare radius equal to the width of the port.

When you guys are referring to flaring the port, do you mean make the opening kind of like a flared aero port, but with the slot port? If so how would you determine how much flaring you would need?

Yeah it's kinda like an aero port. When I am going to only be flaring one side, like on a box with the port against the side, I make the flare radius the same as the port width. If the port is in the middle of the box so both sides will be flared I make the flare radius 5/8 to 3/4 of the width of the port.
