boostin302
so i boot up my computer one day and it is only reading half of my ram size and only one of my GPU's. read ram size through control panel> system> view ram and processor speed. read GPU through EVGA precison and Nvidia control panel. i have 32gbs G.skill 1600 ( OC 1866) actually installed. only 16 show up now ( it read 32 from march to nov 30th, 2013) EVGA GTX 580's 1.5gb SLI MSI Z77A-GD80 mobo thermaltake 1275w PSU i have swapped GPU places and same thing. I have swapped RAM and still shows 16gbs. That gets rid of the ideal of them being bad. now.. i have the normal bios and the Clickbios that i can use to change settings to the bios when windows is already running. Startup bios shows 16gb installed. Clickbios shows 32gb installed. CPU-Z shows 32gb installed DxDiag shows 16gb installed Task manager shows 16gb installed The ONLY thing that i can even remotely think of is that a GPU buss and dual link RAM slot have gone out on the chipset on the M77A. I have returned everything to stock settings ( no OC on anything) same readings either way, OC or stock settings. i took a multimeter to the PSU and its testing out with proper voltage. onboard test spot for the MOBO test out with proper voltage, onboard debugg lights display a 55 like normal. There are no swollen caps on the MOBO and the south bridge feels warm to the touch after a 19 hour gaming session. which, i'm assuming is normal. ANYBODY think of anything that i may have missed? beaker
I had a similar MSI Z77 mobo, same issue Reset everything back to factory, (write all your settings down before you do) in the UEFI and in the normal bios. reboot, set everything in the bios back, then you should be fine. boostin302
tried that. pulled CMOS battery, hit the reset button the mobo and still same thing. beaker
Really? It sounds like bios shadowing is enabled. If you reset the bios though and it only sees half . . . did you try manually setting your ram voltage and timing? That's what I'd do next. And turn off XMP
boostin302
yup. i have tried setting it by hand and nothing. heres the funny thing, the ram is 1866 Mhz OC but the bios will only let me go to 1600 Mhz. i have literally tried every little thing and nothing, reset bios to factory and nothing, so i went update by update for bios and nothing still. it is blowing my mind. on board voltage test spot for RAM is measure 1.5v so i know that it is getting proper volts. Ubuntu is showing 32gb but.... gnome3 is showing 16gb. i'm just going to have to RMA the board in febuary. i cant afford to be without a computer with my online school work.
