On-going issue with H/O Honda Civic alt...is it the alt or the car???

Have you talked to singer about, im sure he would be the most logical person to go to about this issue,

does it charge normal then all of a sudden drop off?

i have seen this problem with a buddy of mine alt from singer.

Yes he said three things could cause what sounds to be a bad rectifier due to the low-tune howling/humming sound coming from the alt when the car is off. One being the wrong type of batteries being run in the car (I know its best to use xs or the same batteries throughout but a yellow top is certainly better than a wet cell bone stock would be) two being bad batteries (had them individually load tested just the other day) three being road debree (never has affected my stock alt in years now)

Has bypassing the computer controls ever been known to cause issues? The stock plug and three out of its four wires are hanging loose with no sort of function or power supply.

A bad rectifier three times? Maybe he needs to rethink the alt for your car.

The one out of four with 12v car on 0v car off is being used to power my regulator/charge lead wire

Not necessarily three times, just this time for sure. First time he did find a framing screw that got lodged in the casing and tore shit up. Second time he said the regulator was acting up. This third time he's saying it sounds like a rectifier bridge gone bad indicated by the constant sound when the car is off.

Fyi first two alts where stock case 160 amps this third time alt was a 275 amp GMC he's sold several times to other civic owners without a known issue

Only modification needed was a few washers in the bottom mount area for a tight fit. Otherwise we just had to put the SOB on a lift loosen the engine mounts and tilt the motor drop the axel to get it in. This is why I'm trying to find a logical rhyme or reason for these failures before I go through all the trouble of swapping it a fourth time. I do want to make it clear that Singers service has been second to none in dealing with repairs and alt issues I've had along the way.
