One major thing is not all wires on rca cords are soldered to the plugs, they are just pressed in and held in place with a pressed rubber like fitting.

This holds true on a lot of cheaper rca cables as well as some name brand cables sold at your big box stores. and this is where you notice a huge difference in the impedance of the cables.

theoretically you can use a pair of wire coat hangers for cables, and not bee to bad of audio quality if the connection is proper, its been tested before and always found it interesting.

The conclusion is that nobody could hear the difference between OFC speaker wires or a coathanger. (same goes with RCA's)

Psychoacoustics are a bitch.

The most important thing for RCA's isn't that the impedance is low but that the capacitance is very low which makes sure the impedance curve of the wire doesn't affect anything. (If you want to see a article about this ask me, i'll search for it)

EDIT: Mrtopnotch, people who say price does matter have experienced psychoacoustics or are justifiying their "expensive" RCA's/speaker wire.

By the way, i've bought some Van Den Hul (the magnum) speaker wire, which costs a little over 55dollar per meter and haven't heard any difference.

Depends on the RCAs. Some have better shielding than others, better connectors, better strain relief, etc.

Think about this, for an $8 RCA, they still need to flip a profit for both the manufacturer and middle man, after material, manufacturing, and shipping costs.
