I'm not reading through this bible of a thread, but what I do when I get desperate is run the wires to behind the head unit and connect the factory speaker wire to the speaker wire coming from the amp, connect at the harness.

thats what im going to do .

i love all the ideas but i really believe the door has to come off and even after that, there is no for sure bet simply because i cant reach it under the dash.

And that only works if yourfactory wire can handle the load and it's not amplified. It's also fairly ghetto. If I'm going to spend the time to change everything out I'm changing it all out. You never know what those wires go to or ran next to or into etc. Using power and ground for the head unit is one thing but i do not reuse factory speaker wire at all costs.

i wanna say 100wrms would be ok and skimping by especially with the last part being the ofc12 gauge from HU to amp.

im trying to be optimistic.

Just find a way to replace it bro. If it's my way or taking a door off and drilling a hole. Do it right and leave it like that for the rest of the time you own the car!

Do you guys all think i can get away with running it from back of heaunit to the amp and use factory wire so its half 18 and half 12?

that may be the only option in th eend...or its bye bye time

I've done it a few times with about 90wrms through it. Sounded really good. just have to make sure you don't have a stock amplifier.

not hard if you have a right angle pneumatic impact. it will be a pain in the ass with a regular socket wrench, but doable.

i might try a real long extendo clip on my drill bit go under the dash and try to ge the right angle on the grommet to drill through it and come out above the wires and then just run it that way. shot in the dark.
