here are the DD 3500/9500 coils over last 3 years. they messed around with different gauge coils and lengths. all are copper and all are D2 ohm.

in order from 2011, then the burnt one is 2012, and the last 3 on right are 2013, and now they have switched to a shorter coil than longer ones but longer than the smalles black ones which is what is pictured in this thread.

the coils shown are both copper.

the bigger one is a D2 DD 3500 copper coil.

the smaller one is an American Bass XFL coil D2.

DD has changed a ton up over the last few years multiple times and prolly will change more in the future.

idk how long it has been since you messed with DD, i know you arent the biggest fan of them but things change.

i dont have a picture of the DD aluminium because I have never blown them or broken teh triple joint with one since the new spiders.

I mess with DD a bit, new and old woofers.

I just dont care for the newer woofers because they are backed with lie after lie it seems. The whole hiding behind the fact that they are usa everything drives me nuts, perfect example when a company has a chinese manufactured basket. The whole "made in usa" is tossed around so loosely these days, and its pathetic. I have no problem with china built products, but when a company cant be upfront with a customer its not right. Just like AB claims on their VFL amps engineered in USA, they didnt engineer crap, its a standard PCB stuck in a standard Heatsink, that it seems to be the same as everybodys prototype amp uses that comes from korea, maybe they engineered the bare aluminum color instead of the black?...

Im still waiting to see a 10inch spider landing on the new 9900 series woofers that n8 was told by DD that they will have. Theres been several posted in the 9900 thread, and not a single one is using any sort of 10inch spider. I called that before the woofers where even shipping, and was accused that I had no idea what I was talking about.

Ive done a few recent recones on 9500s with in the past couple months, along with many of their lower end woofers that the local dealer needs reconed for customers (500, 1500, 2500 series, and got a old 3500 sitting in the garage collecting dust).

That coil in the first picture next to the AB looks aluminum.

Also that picture of all the coils side by side, the far left (the flat wound coil) is aluminum, Ive never ever seen a flatwound copper coil used by any manufacture.

i agree with you on the baskets not being made in the usa. and the hole made in usa. but coils are for a fact. all kevlar or carbon parts are. and i couldnt tell you about cones or suspensions. i would think those are all USA made.

but i can 100% guarantee you that all those coils are copper. 100%. it may just look flat in picture but it is round. it is copper.

about the 9900s and 10 inch spider. i told n8 they would be 10 inch. i got misinformation from someone at DD who really didnt know much about the woofer. and this was before they actually came out. my apologies and sorry for the hype. i didnt see how they could do it either.

they appear to be doing well even without a 10 inch spider. im gunna get a few and see how they do.

i was just thinking a sub that behaved like a SP4 i feel like FI is losing right now because they don't have a BTL. they have a 1500 rms solution, and a 3k solution.

Mayhem.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
