McGovney
This is a box I built for a local customer, who is also a member of Bumpin for Breast Cancer Oklahoma. His current box sounded pretty good, but he wanted something with a lot more flare, and actually designed for his sub/vehicle. He had a general idea of what he wanted the box to have, but also let me loose on what I think would look the best. So here's where I am so far today...Equipment:Sub: DD9518Amps: (2) AQ1200's strapped at 2 ohmsBox specs:7.0 cubes net8.5" Octaport34 hz (he likes Decaf, but still wants to do a decent number on the meter)Duplicolor bedlinerPink for the port and the ribbon
n8ball2013
Nice work. You've got good router skills? Does the shape of the D in the middle stand for anything? Reason I ask is if you could have done a B with the B cutouts the breast cancer symbol it could have been almost a logo for Bumping for breast cancer. It wasn't meant to be in the shape of a "D", that's just how it turned out. Just wanted something that could flow well, and wasn't a block with a ribbon cut out of the middle. I didn't want to go too overboard, because in a month or so, the customer is going to have the "Bumpin for Breast Cancer logo air brushed on the top of the box as big as he can. McGovney
And if you're referring to the cutout, I actually cut that all our with a jig saw. It does pay to have a nice jig saw and router though.
ChevyBoy95
i personally would have done it with like .25in MDF and have a slightly embossed look. looks good though, love the octoport. McGovney
Finished up the bedliner and paint this evening. Any inconsistancy you see in the bedliner is because some was still wet when I took the picture. Turned out great. Will be getting more pictures when it's installed (customers 9518 has a custom Pink Carbon 8" dust cap).
CleanSierra
Why only single baffle? Is a great looking box and I love the octoport. I would just think that the big DD will shred that box with only a single baffle. It's there going to be an abundance of all thread or something? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
McGovney
A box comes apart when there is flex. Did you notice the large window bracing inside the box? Also with the sub being as close to the other edges as possible theres less chance of flex (which there wont be anyway). Valid question, but once you understand proper carpentry techniques youll see you dont need to do half the stuff you see other people doing. Also, all thread flexes... the best kind of bracing is with mdf, preferably window bracing (where one piece touches 4 sides of a box).
