For some reason, quoting is not working for me...

anyway

I do agree with poorfish on the subject of clipping from unclean power. Just read up on setting your filters and gain before trying to play it.

When i bought the amp and some other subs i had them installed there profesionally so i was planning on leaving the amp gains the way he left them.. but does every sub have different gains?

no the gain has nothing to do with the sub it has something to do on how fast it reads the signal from the head unit and that is why you don't want to set it too high and it will cause distortion and clipping

Joe X brings up a good point. GueraZ28 you never mentioned anything about a sub enclosure (box). What's the plan there?

Also, I'm definitely not the resident pro about setting gains. However, the fact that you'll be under powering these subs with the current amp you have and (assuming the gains were previously set in a way that the amp does not clip), your gain settings should be okay. That's assuming that a professional installer properly set gains and not by ear.

Just because, the amp was profesionally set in another car means nothing. Becuase of this, in the car it was set before, had X voltage while running, had a X input voltage from a headunit that I grarentee is not the same head unit as yours. Along with that, the other car could have had different lengths in it's power and ground wires, which in his car could have had a larger, or smaller resistance than your wires in your car. When you put an amp into a vehicle, you must reset the gain. Because you are not holding the exact some voltage the other person was, and everything else I said.

RootXBeer...Touche my friend. In that context (as opposed to just posting "X2") a clearer picture is painted. Thanks for clearing that up. I think sometimes people post with no rhyme or reason. Had poorfish88 posted and explained

"hey for future reference...." or

"If you're ever looking to upgrade..."

would have been more sufficient than just naming another amp that shits on the OP's amp...lol My apologies to poorfish88 if your intent was to enlighten a reader for next time. Too often we forget, tone and attitude is difficult to convey in text and thus it is best to give further explanation.

Hopefully GueraZ28 is now on the way to safely listening to his temporary sounds, with no worries until the new amp comes in. We all started somewhere.

I get ya, I know a lot of times too, I will put in a reply while I had another thing on my mind or am about to do something. SO with ADHD, I try to get that point out there as fast as I can so I don't forget about what I was just about to do, or what I wanted to do. Have had plenty of times I go and look at my content and look at my replies and I'm just like, the fuckw as I saying? lol

GueraZ28, did you purchase your amp from someone else's car? Or did you purchase the amp and had it professionally installed in your car on your headunit?

I'm only asking because the way I read your post, it seems like you're stating that you had that amp installed in your car but with a different set of subs. I just wanted to have that cleared up so some vets on tuning can help you further.

Yeah i bought it from a retailer and had it installed with 500watt subs just took those out (sold them actually) and just put these in. Just wired them and left the gains like they are on the head unit AND amp sounds great better than the other ones

The guy goes from wanting to use an amp until he can afford a better amp. To buying an amp in the less than 30 minutes, so it's just the millionth and one bullshit

thread, rolleyes.

ModestDB, don't put or add words to my posts. They stand just fine on there own, thanks in advance
