Charging issue, what to look for *Video

Recommended Posts

Man.. that sucks...

NO WAY you should be seeing battery rest... hell even below, with belt slip or any of that shit.

That sucks...

EDIT- at that voltage, that is NOT pcm shit. Your UNDER BATTERY .....

You keep going, it will leave you stranded. Ill bet my money on it.

You need a resolution, and NOW.

DOUBLE edit.

Just saw the big bank you have. Im shocked your THAT low with that bank, that tells me, youve been pulling off that bank for SOME time. You need to get the entire bank on a charger, NOW, and find a solution dude......

Stuff happens now and again I guess. Not really too pissed about it but am worried. At least everything is still fairly new so should be under warranty but the truck itself. Hopefully Mechman has a better answer for me though at some point here. If not I'll toss my stock alt in there this weekend and see how it changes anything. I know it was still good when I took it out and still have the stock belt so that will help. As far as charging thats already being done as i write this. I got of the computer to go hook it up lol

One other thing, with the truck running can you use a DMM to measure the alt + stud to the alt case to make sure the alt is not putting out what it's supposed to?

I went and checked with a DMM. The rear batteries read 12.48. Front battery is 12.48. When on the pos alt stud i get 12.48. Not sure if we should all play the lottery with those numbers but thats what i have. Also took a short video of it running. I think i may have some ticking over byt he alt. Either that or my hearing is just bad but i think that may be the issue. video to follow here

Eh, I still think its the voltage regulator.. considering our issues were similar.

Im guessing you don't have a clamp meter.. Just to see if its outputting amperage at a low voltage. Thats obviously a defect, but may narrow down exactly what the problem is.

Thanks. For some reason sometimes I can get the vids to show up and others show a link. I think it depends on what browser I'm using.

Well did a couple things with it after talking to Brian from Mechman and looks like its going in to get a little work done. No big deal though. Things happen and nothing is perfect. Customer service was great over there and really helpful. Appreciate Brian's time and hearing the story. Looks like stock is going back in Saturday or Sunday for a bit.
