Big "3" question

Dont mean to hijack the thread, but on my car, the alt case ground goes directly to the batt (-) terminal (like the OP has done with his big 3). When I do my big 3, should I follow this or should I run to the chassis ground like recommended? I plan on leaving the factory wires in place (even though on my car it wont matter as I dont have an ECU in it... Camaro with a carb'd V8)
