bcbrassard
I guess that the flared length that PSP gives is for their particular flares, generally speaking the effective length of a flared port is calculated like this: The effective length as shown in the figure should be the 8.9". If thats the proper way to make the port length then that lowers my tuning some i think. Doesnt matter, building a new box with 10s anyway. Dante_k_late
this helped allot for me to! i plan on making my own flared and was wondering if you could flare them to much from what I've searched i don't think you can flare them too much as long as the effective port stays the right length. i believe that no matter how much you flare the port only 1/2 an inch or so of the flares will actually be part of the port because of size. fecupe2001
i always flare the 4" pvc tubes with a heatgun and a bowl, and, i always cut them about 2.5" longer that what i want to use because each flare takes about 1.25" , so in other words, if i want a 17" long port with flare on both ends, i cut them about 19" long and flare them I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. Dante_k_late
instead of 2 4" ports could i use 4 2"? it'd still be the same port area wouldn't it be? i may even just use 6 2" the 4" pvc i had laying around was the heavy duty sch80 stuff so its much more thick than normal (sch40) pvc. Joe X
4 2" port is the same port area as 1 4" (12.56 square inches). You can get standard 4"PVC in smaller lengths for really cheap.
alaskanzx5
Why not a single 6-8" PVC port. You can get either one through home depot or lowes. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. alaskanzx5
Round port area rxrxpie. 2" port 1x1x3.14=3.14 4=12.56 6=18.84 4" port 2x2x3.14=12.56 2=25.12 6" port 3x3x3.14=28.26 as you can see you would need around 8-9 2" ports, 2-3 4" ports or just a single 6" port. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. Dante_k_late
oh crap okay. i'll probably do 8 2" ports then. i don't have a lot of spare money after bills, (I'm 17 and have lived on my own for over a year now.) so i was wanting to just have to buy the mdf and use the pvc i have already.
