mouting subs inverted

Recommended Posts

i have a set of skar audio vvxv2 10 d4's. i will be powering them by a skar audio 1500.1. i am trying to save on space in my truck. i was wanting to build a ported box. i was wondering if i could build a smaller box and mount the subs inverted? such as 1.25 cubic foot per sub for a ported box.

You can run inverted no problem. Do you plan to run both of them inverted? When you design the box, just take away the displacement of the sub in the design when you invert them.

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

You can save safe, but not much. When I had 2 tens in the past, when I went from regular mounting to inverted, I gained a small amount of air space and only lowered my tuning by I think a little under 2 hz.

I don see how you would save any space. If your box is 12" deep with subs mounted normally then you invert your subs the will stick out about 8" or so making your effective depth 20".
