so when setting the gains with my DD-1 i was told to keep sub level at 0 and all headunit eq's at 0 and was wonder why not to leave it at what i listen to it at since when it finds the distorted signal of flat settings when i bumped them back up after tuning wouldnt it produce a nasty signal? just curious wasnt to sure about this so i thought id ask , rather be safe then sorry :) thanks guys !

Sub level shouldn't be at 0 I thought. You need to DD-1 where you max sub level is and set your amp to that level.

1. This procedure will determine where the

maximum unclipped volume setting of the

headunit is. This is accomplished by setting the

bass, treble, ect, to zero; and any EQs and

crossovers in the headunit to flat. Later, when

you set the amplifier gain(s); you can reset these

to where you feel the customer will set them, or

where you will set them for your own system.

this seems to suggest that you should set the gains twice???

No, that says to set all the crossover and EQs to flat then set your HU.

Then when you are setting the gains on your amp you can set those back to what you want.
