rsfm089 Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 After this weekend I will finally be able to buy my ho alt im thinking in the two fifty amp range.(want to run about 4k) Can I hook up my new alt right away with just a yellow top under the hood. Will it charge to much I guess is what I'm trying to ask. Don't worry I'm doing big three in zero also.
SnowDrifter Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I got a DC 270XP, ran a crescendo 3.5k on stock battery. Couldn't play at idle without dipping, but it didn't really drop when I was driving/revving ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
sprkn_ranger Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 No it won't charge too much. The only way the alt would overcharge your battery is if you have an adjustable voltage module that you set too high. But amperage wise, the car/battery will only pull as many amps from the alt as it needs. Guest Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 alt will only output as much as the accessories in the car demand
