john253a
(not a shitty toy amp)LOL, harsh words John, agreed he's under powering though.Waserent refuring to the sax, but to the endless10,000watt 500rms amps avaible to chose from When steeping up to the 2-2.5k rms bracket
john253a
Op What ever way you go, if you up the subs Unless you go more in cone area, your restriction is going to be 11-1200rms So either way your subs are rated do 2k and will take 2200 clean all day (but don't try to push it 2.5-3k) So idd up the amp/ built a new spec box, and run what you have till there is nothing left out of them Then upgrade your subs to something that will laughter at 2k if you still think you need more

csshakka
Thanks for the advice. So basically bigger amp, second battery, 0 gauge is the way to go if I want louder. Then bigger subs (power wise) to follow. Out of curiosity, how does one higher end sub generally compare to two entry level subs, such as the type r? Does 1200W to one higher end sub output roughly the same as two entry level subs on 600W?
whatusay45
Depends on which sub and how good the enclosure is. Plus u have to factor in cone area . vehicle your in and the music you listen too. But generally any above entry level usually sounds a lot better

Does 1200W to one higher end sub output roughly the same as two entry level subs on 600W? I did some calculations on your box and at least it seems tuned lower than you state and your port area is kind of low, also subs up improves output sometimes, you will be tuned to about 30Hz or maybe less, also you use the center line of the port to measure it's length not the inner walls, you should be tuned instead to 34-35 Hz if aiming for output. Those subs are good enough to compare with SA-12s or most <1K <$200 subs you can find. If you really want to step up your output go for 15s if you have the space, like Fi SSD 15s which are not expensive and could take 1500W each. slowfkncar
Plenty of options here if you are willing to upgrade the amp. 2-3k and two fi-q's will sound very good and have more output then your type r's. Buy a good amp and new subs ,dont forget the 0 guage. Get it all done one time so you dont have to keep spending money upgrading everything one by one. Qs are really in another price/performance level will easily take 2K each, 4K amp two 0ga runs, alt etc.
