Now to start on my buddy's vehicle. RF Hx2 12, Avionixx amps, and Infinity Reference components. He wants a small system for his daughter s X5 now!

Not too many 16 yr olds get an X5 as their daily driver!!!

Well, the GM Saga continues. "The gas gauge doesn't work, and I ran out of gas". Ok this happens with GM trucks. So.......fixed it.

I was not satified with the ride quality of the Jimmy since I lowered it. The 2" used Beltech springs I bought for $20.00 caused the front to bounce around ALOT.

So I went with new DJM 3" springs and 4" angled blocks.

While I was doing the suspension, I replaced the last thing I did not get to when redoing the suspension, the infamous P.I.T.A Bushings! They were. Spend 2 days doing them. Jerry-rigging to the extreme.

Ok now she looks better!!

WHAT THE HELL????? I just replaced EVERYTHING COMPONENT FOR THE FRONT END AND STILL I HAVE THE DREADED GM ACCELERATION VIBRATION!!!

I drove the truck back to my house to investigate. On the interstate, if I punched it the vibration would be present OVER 2000 RPM, Under 2000, the vibration was minor.

Internetting, I found a few people saying "Check the mounts". I tried the tranny mount first because it was easy to do. I tried the Poly red, made the vibration WORSE!
I THINK I'M ONTO SOMETHING!!!! I replaced the poly mount with the standard OEM type of tranny mount.

Motherf**ker! NO MORE VIBRATION WITH ACCELERATION. TOTAL COST OF THE MOUNT $8.19. At least the front end is new!

The original mount on the left was compressed, tilting the engine downwards , causing the front U-Joint to be misaligned to the driveshaft. $8.19 fixed what $400.00 + 4 days of work could not. :D She drives likes a new truck now!

But wait! ther's more! "Frank, something is making the door panel rip off the door when I open it".

Now the dreaded "GM Door Hinge Sag"!. Sh*t.....Oh, what the hell........

IMAG0292_zps59c90424.jpg

5Hrs later.......

IMAG0294_zps7e2426d7.jpg

Now back to the stereo! I picked up this Kenwood Excelon X990, with DSP and HD radio for $60.00 on Ebay. Way better than the Pioneer DEH-AV3200DVD I had in there. She complained at first "But I like my touch screen".....Than she heard this receiver. Random statement "I LOVE my Jimmy!". (It's better than my DEH-P960MP in my Bimmer!) :D

Replaced the cracked bezel, added a Aux input where the 4x4 buttons would be. And finished running the 2nd set of RCA's under the carpet to the back.

Now, to rip out those entry level Coustic subs and build a ported enclosure for the Power RF 15's. I just picked up another Avionixx CXD-2800M. I 2800M per sub!

I have the damn door sag too real bad my driver door panel actually broke because of it I've been putting off doing it because I know how bad it suck's well that and I want a new car anyways.

Trans mount thing they really should tell people when they buy those mounts that you will get more vibration then a stock type mount. Feel you on the fuel pump too mine crapped out on me last year had to do it in the drive way flat on my back with no help even better it was 3/4 full tank. Hopefully you bought an ac Delco pump or you're going to be doing it again soon.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

B.A.A. No one seems to have a DIY made for the hinge mount, only for the bushing replacement. I still have to do the passenger side, so maybe I'll do a DIY. Just need a photoshot or video maker program. I learned from my experience last night and it's easy.

1. Use a atv lift to raise and lower the door.

2. Pop the pins out and pull the door laterally away from the mount. Dismounting took 2 min! Lift and move the door to the floor.

3. Use the lift as a seat and start grinding! :)

4. Rent a saw-zall and hit the weld. You will have enough clearance to cut through the weld. Do not use a chisel like I did. You'll deform the surface like I did.

5. It's as simple as bolting the "ear" of the new mount to the body, drill 4 bolts, insert the backing plate and bolt up!

6. Attack the door mount with the grinder. Cut as much of the mount off as possible leaving only the mounting surface to deal with.

7. Cut vertical lines into the original mount. and grind away the weld, lift the metal. move onto the next little section, grind, lift.Moving towards left to right.

I can do all over again in about 1 hr now that I know how to do it. I heard it costs up to $400 to do at a body shop! I paid $47.00 and alot of elbow grease.

As far as the pump.....it's an Ebay pump, but I can drop the tank in 20 min now! :D Originally took me 4 hrs!

Well, the Jimmy is out of commission for the next month. Hopefully less than a month.

Seems the ONLY thing I did not change was the transmission fluid.

The Jimmy was in Limp mode for a few days before I could get to it.

By the time I drove it home, the fluid was burnt, the Torque converter clutch solenoid was fried.

With 242,000 that original transmission lasted as long as it could.

I have decided instead of paying $1000 for a reman transmission, and $1000 labor, I will attempt to do it myself.

I've been watching Harim Rodriguez's transmission repair channel for a few days now. I know I can do this!

The kit itself is $185 on Ebay.

A reman valve body is $179 on Ebay.

So the job should cost me $364.00 in parts.

Purchased an extra set of 3 ton jacks and a Harbor Freight Transmission jack.

The project started today. 2 hrs invested so far.

The Jimmy is on the on jacks.

The driveshaft is out.

The converter cover was removed.

The flywheel was turned clockwise via the harmonic pulley and a 16mm socket, to locate the bolts.

jimmytransmissionoverhaul%20005_zpspdpzh

After alittle tug of war, the 3 bolts were removed.

While under the truck , something caught my eye. Since owning the truck, I noticed she kept losing antifreeze. Well, I found

the source. Unfortunately, it's the head jacket!!! The dreaded f**kin' head gasket. Well, that 6hr project will have to wait til the

transmission gets done first.

jimmytransmissionoverhaul%20002_zpsq1l0a

I know Devin is bummed, but I should be done with it in about 2-3 wks. Fingers crossed.

After these 2 things, there is NOTHING to FIX on the JIMMY!!! Seriously, that's about it. The only thing that can fail is the motor itself!

Thanks for viewing.
This post was intended for those few that appreciate those "Labor's of love" and "not giving up" mentality when it comes to projects!

I want to paint the truck, I guess I can do it after all of these repairs.

I will be doing this repair in stages by day. No way do I want to rush this.

Tomorrow, I remove the fuel lines and exhaust tubes.

Monday, attempt to undo the 8 bolts holding the bell housing to the motor!
