Cj Kumz Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Hey people. Okey I need some advice. I wanna know if I should upgrade as stated above and to what extent to get the most out of my setup.. I am powering a DD9515 (2 x 1 ohm) with a Sundown saz-3500d set @ 2ohms. It is in a 5.5 cubic foot box tuned to 38hz with a 10 inch pvc port. I am driving a VW Polo which came with stock 4 gauge wiring from the stock 90A alternator to battery and stuff. I am also using a 4 gauge power cable with an 80 amp fuse on it. Oh and a big non-maintenance battery. Now question is how far can I upgrade without having to change my alternator to get full potential of my setup.. Help me!! I already have an AGM Battery infront so will just have to get one for the back and do the upgrade. Hey do you think my alternator will have stress charging both batteries at once?? audiofanaticz Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Well for starters, before you worry about upgrading your alternator or even thinking of doing so, you should get a quality piece of ofc 1/0 power cable to run your saz-3500 before you blow it to shreds and back using an amp that can potential pull over 350 amps of current through the 4gauge wire your currently using. Dont matter if your only running the amp at 2 ohms or not, your ghetto rigging high price gear together to make it work and that's just not right.

Hey do you think my alternator will have stress charging both batteries at once?? It should be ok as long as you put them in charged and put them on a charger frequently so they stay healthy Well for starters, before you worry about upgrading your alternator or even thinking of doing so, you should get a quality piece of ofc 1/0 power cable to run your saz-3500 before you blow it to shreds and back using an amp that can potential pull over 350 amps of current through the 4gauge wire your currently using. So tell me something, will the amp be able to still receive 350amps with a stock 90 amp alternator and the two batteries even with the 0 gauge?? You have opened up my eyes properly now So just based on a ruff estimate, what amps would I be able to get with all that done bt without the h/o alternator??? alaskanzx5 Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Have you even checked your voltage drop at the amp? switch all your wiring to 0gauge ofc being the better choice hands down. do big 3 in 0gauge 1. Alt + to battery + 2. Alt case to frame or battery - 3. Battery - to frame check voltage at amp again. If dropping below 12.5-12.8 (some people don't mind dropping down to battery voltage personally I would say try to keep it above 13v) then get an ho alt or battery for the rear. Ho alt being better. what batt do you have up front? Like brand and size t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

Ok so where do I connect the multimeter to check voltage drop?? And how can I test how many amps the battery is??
