Highs/mids to keep up with that bass and not be over powered by my exhaust system. A clean trunk install with simplistic panels. Lastly, the most bang for my buck with my limited knowledge. What I already have: Alarm - Viper 3305V w/ tilt, window break, and proximity sensor. Backup battery, relocated brain, and horn. Third party GPS tracking from amazon. Head Unit - Kenwood KDC-X598 Kick Panels - Q Logic QL-K1011C Rear 6x9 (currently in the package track, to be relocated below the window) - Rockford R169X3 Subwoofers - (2) Soundqubed HDS312 What I've ordered: Front Components - Polk db5251 Big 3 XS Power Kit Planned to Buy: Alternator - 270a Mechman Sub Amp - Hifonics 2400.1d or SQ Q1-2200D Mids/Highs Amp - Pioneer D8604 or possibly SoundQubed 4 ch. oldsoundguy Posted May 4, 2014 Report Posted May 4, 2014 I would pick the Soundqubed 2200 over just about anything in that power range. The SQ 120 4 channel is also a good choice. Ya just because I run the same amps lol. Sound deadening I would also go with SQ. I just bought their 40 SQf pack and the stuff is thick and sticks very well. JMO though. And ported on the box I'm definitely thinking about it. I've read nothing but positive reviews over maybe a dozen forums, with very few failures. I really don't have any other brands in mind other than SoundQubed and Hifonics, as they are the cheapest stuff I've had good experiences with. In your application, do the SoundQubed amps seem to run cool? They'll be mounted on a false floor. As far as deadening, I'm going two stages: the basic material then the thicker stuff that goes over peel-n-stick. I can hear rattles in the trunk now just off the factory HU and the 6x9's. I may have to foam spots in there as well. Lastly, with the box, I'm trying to narrow down my design choices. I was thinking forward facing, ports back, with a plexiglass rear to see the subs. Beauty panel in front of the sub box to just show a window into the enclosure. Panels on the side that hide the extra battery on one side and misc. stuff on the other, amps mounted on floor, with a Chevy emblem beauty panel over the amps. Its a lot of extra weight that is not needed. For example, using rammat, then using ensolite over that. A few companies have sound deadening "mat", then they have a foam type of material. In case of second skin, it would be like adding mlv over damplifier pro. As for subwoofer enclosure, I'm looking to do something like this... Learning Everyday. focused313 Posted May 8, 2014 Author Report Posted May 8, 2014 Got the 5.25 polks comps in. I plan on covering over the grill with some red/burgundy port material so you don't see the speakers. I can already tell how much I would have benefited by putting the tweeters in the dash 3.5 spot. I think I'll be doing that later on. These, in combination with the kenwood 6x9's actually sound pretty good without being amped. big 3 kit for the future... actually doing big 4 with an existing extra 1/0 wire I was going to do the sound deadening next, but I happened to find a engine performance shop in the area and they'll be getting my money for a while.
