Batteries making noises, how serious??

How did you ground your alternators? Are you using multiple grounds up front?

Alternator ground to chassis/frame
Battery ground to chassis/frame (I like to use a common ground location for the two of these)
just like this. factory ground wherever that is and then added these 2 grounds in 1/0 OFC on the frame cleaned with a wire brush on a drill. Also, only 1 alternator still, waiting for DC Power.
I suppose I could ground engine block, body of vehicle, etc. etc. but I don't see the need.

There is a (alternator ground) sensor up front by the stock battery location...it looks like a plastic ring with a connector right next to the battery tray I believe...that is where you will need to run your alternator ground wire through...if not then your voltage reading will all be jacked up....someone on here had a problem with their battery voltage and that is what fixed it....you can only run one ground wire off the alternator and it has to be through that sensor....

word. lol, I have a couple threads on that. I originally went that route and ran a single ground through that sensor and all was well but I still hate my PCM controlled alt charging at 13.8 so I got a DC Power alt and bracket on order to leave the factory charge system separate and the second alt will need it's own big 3 etc.etc. so I just did it now and let voltage be voltage. Even the stock alt with stock wiring spikes to 15 on start up per VM-and DMM then rests at 13.8 on hot charge. Yea, if you don't go through that sensor I found my voltage dropping way low more so than going way up. I had two different alt manufacturers telling me how to go about that ground sensor and i tried each with every possibility for grounds or lack there of. Now I know what works per my own testing. For the record, I Fucking hate the ground sensor thing with a capitol F.

I am about ready to switch to on older vehicle dedicated to bass just because of the electrical bullshit on these new vehicle alone.

Thanks for your concern though. Curiosu what you have done with your electrical, you got basically the same vehicle as me

how new are batteries? when i first charged my batteries when i got them new they did same thing. also when i charged at 15 cold in the morning until alt cooled down they did same thing.

still load tested great. this is why they recommend not to charge them that high. if you did that all the time think of the damage. make sure your voltage is correct but other than that you should be fine. keep it below 14.8

Lol...right on...I see you're on top of it..man im not even on your level yet...but im doing some research on super caps....I might go that route instead of batteries.....like you said I plan on running two alts but one for the system and the other for the truck.....

Not sure which ones were doing it. There was 2 D3100's and 6 XP3000's all in the same spot and I just know I heard it from a few of them, if not all, so I pulled them all out. I would say all are about 1 year old but have very, very, very little play time on them. Prolly 1 month on the D3100's, maybe a little more and virtually none on the xp3000.

Yea, I would like to try not to charge that high but whether I have my Mechman or stock alt in when I start the vehicle it goes to 15 volts on the nuts then slowly settles back down to about 13.8. It's the PCM controlled bullshit, no way around it except separate charging system which I am waiting on from DC Power.

At this point I am not too concerned about it (because I have no choice). I will just leave them out till my buss bars come from TM that I have been waiting over 2.5 months for....
