Totalnoob Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 hello everyone does anyone know the watt ratio between your bass watts and mids/highs watts. Lets say i run a system with 2k watts of bass. How much watts for mids and highs would i need if i run one set of 6.5 component speakers in the front for it to sounds balanced and not overpowered by bass.
Audioholic Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 What ever the max RMS is on the comps.. Then simply balance out the 3 with your hu's eq until YOUR satisfied.
Phaeton Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 i would think every 1000 watts of bass you need 50-75 watts to the mids/high. i had 1k going to my four 15's and 100 watts to two 6.5" components and two 10" midbass at the back and it was wonderful, i could hear everything. Hell, even with 2k running at bass i can still hear just my 6.5 components up front just fine. 1997 subaru legacy outback Four 15's in a almost wall Rockford Fosgate t2500-1bdcp Rockford Fosgate T400-4 on tweets Rockford Fosgate T400-4 on highs Rockford Fosgate T400-2 on midrange Rockford Fosgate T400-2 on midbass Optima Yellow top batteries 270A Singer alt (working on a bracket for a second) Lots of Second Skin
Robert8252 Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 Personally I tend to end up with 20% of sub power on mids and 5% on tweets. So for 2k I'd have around 2-250 watts on mids and 50 on a good set of tweeters. 2013 F150 Crew Cab Old Build Log Feedback 2013 F150 Equipment - Some Awesome Stereo Sound Making Stuff
sencheezy Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 I run 16k for bass, and 2k for mids/highs But you can't simply look at power level There is what's called reference level You have to remember Subs are only about 1% effecient, all the rest of power is wasted heat Where as, mids/highs can have well over 100% Sensitivity and up to 3-4% efficiency. Just buy the appropriate gear and you won't have anything to worry about. If you're trying to have an balanced sounding system, you want to turn down the db level of whatever is peaky. just my .02 165db with 237 DC Volts 6 15" SSA Evils 3 HV Taramps T60k @.33 18 XS Power D3400s Add me on SC, FB, IG, and YT @ Sencheezy
gr8handogoatness Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 I run 110 to each side of my components and 400w to the 2 10s and it's pretty nice. Blends well and sounds good. So my sub stage has about double the power as the front stage.

Are you into Sound Quality ?? Are you into with music with alot of bass ?? My truck had 600 watts rms on it's front stage. (That's the size right?) My goal is 800 available watts to front stage and 1500 ish to the sub stage in my daily driver.

LOL Just because it's a sound quality vehicle doesn't mean that I do not push my drivers to their limits. True, I love headroom ... But an amplifier will make power no matter where you set your gain. My front stage will consist of a pair of tweeters, a pair of 5.25" drivers, and a pair of 10" drivers. power will be spread out evenly.
