The very little knowledge i´ve gotten testing and tesing more says, believe it or not, port area depends on how shitty or how good your sub is ;)

What does that mean bro?

(ive posted on your thread for some help bro)

What i see above? is NOTHING what ive tested? I have SHORT on port, and my rise is flat in a 10hz band....

I know paper and build is differnent but i seem to be differnent entirerly ?

really? what thread? sorry i haven´t seen that!

Wall is totally different for sure, my last comment was aimed to normal current boxes on the back! About my wall, definitely depends A LOT on the power you use, with about 1100 clamped my explorer was loud with about 410 SQ of port, bigger than that sucked ass, once i doubled the power, i got way louder on the meter and ear-o-meter with about 520 SQ of port, same tuning, same subs, etc etc etc

Would it be more correct to say excursion which I know is directly proportional to power applied? Then I would have to say port area does depend on enclosure volume because that can directly impact mechanical power handling.

1997 Lexus ES300

HU - Pioneer MVH 7350

Processor - Helix DSP

Front Stage - JBL P660C

Mid/high amp - Alpine PDX-F4

Subs - 1 IA Death Penalty 12

I keep seeing power as one of the port area calculations. Power is really not part of the equation, unless you model the entire system to see what the sub is actually doing. In other words, the the same driver (or even 2 different subs with same cone area and Xmax) may reach Xmax with 100 watts in alignment X, but it may take 200 watts in alignment Y. Assuming the same tuning frequency, they both require the same amount of port area.

Port area is based on air velocity through the port, which is determined by driver surface area, Xmax, and tuning frequency.

Small ports do NOT have more bandwidth than larger ports, unless they are way undersized and begin to act in a non-linear fashion. This scenario is not a valid argument. It would be like puting an 18" sub in 1 cuft and saying it didn't have good low end response.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
