My amp (SAZ-2000D) has no fuses on the amp, 1 or 2 inline fuses?

Hey guys,

First time I've encountered an amp like this, I guess it's common among higher powered amps. Anyways I will have a 250A fuse near the battery and since my amp has no fuses should I be putting a 200A amp fuse within 6 inches of the amp or will having one near the battery suffice? Also are my fuse sizes correct? Should they be of equal value. Amp is 2000w x1 @ 1 ohm.

Thanks :)

fuse near the battery is fine,no need for fuse by the amp, unless you have or add an extra battery in the rear

Well hope others will chime in if I am wrong. But I always fuse as close to the amp and battery as possible. So yes two fuses.

I always fuse twice. Better safe then sorry. I fuse to whatever the amp will pull or the alternator will allow. Whichever is higher up front. Then the necessary fuse for the amp in the rear.

spl dust is an option you can get on the coils... it's great for extra 1000 watts of power

where can i get this spl dust and how much is it. is it hard to apply? lol

extra fuse by the amp won't hurt anything I've just never done it. guess if something pinched or pierced the wire after the battery fuse, a fuse before the amp may come in handy.

i only fuse the cable going through the firewall, other than that i dont fuse

A second one won't do much. If you have an appropriately sized fuse near the battery that is all you need.

Well I went ahead and just ordered a second inline fuse. I'm super cautious and with an amp that pricey better to take no chances.

Thanks for all the input guys.

For 2 fuses to be effective or needed, the fuse near the battery should be rated for the wires capacity and the fuse near the amp should be rated for what the amp will use. Adding the same size fuse near the amp won't really do anything since the fuse near the battery should pop first.

Yeah fuse at the battery is 250A (Even though It should have been 300A, oh well) and fuse at the amp is 200A. I realized they shouldn't be equal. Hopefully that's sufficent, I just went with what Sundown recommends for the amp.
