tju76
Hello I am new to the forums so first off hello everyone and thanks for trying to help me solve this. So my problem or what I believe to be the problem is setting the gains on my sundown saz 1200 when using the dd1 I will get a blip on the distortion detect led pretty much as soon as I move the gain knob but after I turn the knob further the distortion led light goes off and doesn't come on till I turn it up further currently I have the gain not even a 1/4 turn which does not seem right too me. Any help is appreciated
MrBigs63'
Sometimes not even a quarter turn is just right. Some high output voltage head units don't require a very high gain setting. As for the blip on the DD-1 I do not know what to tell you.

Any help is appreciated if it turns on and goes away after you turn it up a little more, its not bad, thats normal, its just the variable resistor, it could possibly have anything in the process that can cause distortion, like dirt or a bit of corrosion or some sort. You only need to worry about when it stays on fully and not when it just goes on like for a bit, is the light currently on a 1/4 turn and it has the light on fully? And some times that's all it takes to make the amp run at its full power. tju76
All the settings are flat the rca outs on the headunit are 4 volt. The only setting that was not flat was sub level on headunit but the dd1 manual said to leave that at the middle setting so +7. I also have a second question when playing my sa 12s loud real bass heavy song my voltage will dip never below 13.5 I did the big three but when playing the subs full bore like this I sometimes notice a smell not sure if it's just glue melting off it's not a bad smell just something I noticed. I have not had the fortune of smelling what a burnt coil smells like and I find it hard to believe that is what it is. Since the sundown sa 12s and saz 1200 are overbuilt. But should I be concerned and if so would a good solution be turning the gain down like I said it's hardly turned up at all.

OrionStang
What head unit is it? Does the subwoofer level go into negative numbers, like -15 to +15? If so, put it at 0. 1 Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

Did you buy them brand new or used? How long have you been actually using the subs?
