Frankenwoofer Ideas

So I have recently seen some badass frankenwoofer builds with the rockford fogate rfr2212 motor. I was wanting to to the same. Any ideas on what I should do. I want it to be loud, It will be going in 1991 honda civic hatchback.

Frankenwoofers are dumb in my opinion. If you want to get loud just buy a good sub like a nsv3 or any team sub.

Your never going to get parameters for the sub you "create" and it's a toss up when determining airspace, tuning and port area.

It doesn't matter if you need to all our not. You need the RIGHT volume.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

All but the kicker basket.. that sounds like it could be a good sub. Ha ha

Kicker baskets can take over 10k worth of power.

There are ways to get T/S specs for a custom sub. As far as finding the "right" box volume, the box is only a single part of the acoustic system; it also interacts with the vehicle. IMHO to get the "right" box would require experimentation any way. *shrug* . Is it easier to buy a regular sub and roll with manufacturers recommendations and just assume the best. Yes, because it will probably solidly perform.

OP it's ultimately up to you. With a frankenwoofer you will have several more unknowns to account for/figure out and more HW cultivating your design philosophy rather than throwing parts together. Unless you just love a certain motor for which there are no OEM recones it is probably better to just buy a manufactured sub to suit your needs. There are countless choices so finding one to fit your application will not be hard.

Have To disagree with you there...plenty of tools out to get the parameters for woofers ...
