Lifted2000Ford4x4 Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 I've got a Audio Technix AT 800.1 D and i noticed the last day before i tore my system out of my old car, that the amp would get blazing hot, in a matter of 5 minutes, then protect. its just at the mosfets on the flat side of the heatsink. everything else seems to be normal temp for them. so i hooked it up today on a single 12, at 1 ohm, gain half, just doing a test bump, same thing, 5 mins of play time at lower levels, just that one side of the amp gets warm and protects. so... whats messed up in it?

MrBigs63' Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 I got a lemon from Audio Technix. It would get super hot, but never go into protect. We didn't figure it out until I sold it to a buddy as BNIB. After we installed it, I asked if he wanted to send it back. He said as long as it keeps playing he would keep using it. It has lasted for over six months, but I swear you could fry an egg on that thing.
