Is Power Acoustik REALLY that bad?!

I recently retired a 12" Power Acoustik Mofo and on the forum I keep seeing PA is being thrown around as a joke. Are they really that overrated? I never had problems with mine on a Soundstream Picasso 1200, granted I didn't go for SPL. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones?

I'm glad your p3s are treating you well. i personally hate them but if you like them thats what matters. I'm sure that rf prime is doing most of the work tho.

Apparently if you put a spider on Power Acoustic and call is "soundstream" it becomes pretty good.

Poor performance, questionable build quality, and early failure can be expected from most of the "it's good for the money" brands. Also if you start moving up the food chain into some middle of the road or higher end equipment you'll notice the difference. Everyone around here that was using Soundstream got loud pretty much the minute they threw it away and got some better equipment.

i upgraded to 2 12" RF p3 on RF Prime 1200. Couldn't be happier. Noticeable difference in output. Now to sell the Power Acoustik and Soundstream setup... This is gonna take awhile.

Power acoustik actually made some decent stuff back in the day as well as soundstream. If I remember correctly the MOFO was a 4" coil sub then epsilon electronics bought them along with sound stream and royally fucked everything up lol. Now days, you get what you pay for.

If it makes you happy or its all you can afford then i dont see why it would be bad in your terms. However, comparing power accoustik to for example, CT sounds is like comparing a fucking Pentium 386 to a quad i7. If it does what you need then good for you, otherwise time to move up to better things.

Soundsteam use to be the ultimate.... There was a reason thier amps were called reference. Now most of the big names are just PYRAMID IN DISGUISE.
