I have been curious about this same thing here in nc. I wouldn't even ask the local cops here since I don't think they even know the laws. I called those idiots about window tint before and they told me 5 percent was legal all around on a car, lol. I'm gonna ask the inspection station in october when my other car is due and see what they say.

My local pd are idiots too! I wish I would ask these dumb ass's for advice again on the law.The last time I did that my semi auto rifle got confiscated!!! Long story short it took 1700.00 in layer fees to get my baby back and come tofind out they was wrong. If I get pulled over I doubt they will be able to force me to take it out. However, I have heard of ppl with 5 percent alway around getting pulled over repeatedly having the cop peel the tint off or making you peel it off... dont know how true this is tho..

Bearing in mind, of course, if it's illegal and you get pulled over, the police could try to demand you take it out to "comply" with whatever law. You should be asking your local police or Sheriff's department instead of an internet forum IMO... if nothing else, if the local PD gives you the go ahead it's likely they won't give you a hard time when you drive around town.

bullshit, I went to 5th district Cleveland police to make sure my tint was "legal" and the sergeant told me it was fine

1 month later I was pulled over getting a ticket and when I told the cop what I had done to check on it he said

"sometimes the higher ranking cops don't do their jobs right"

Wow. You'd never see an RCMP officer doing that.

I asked them about tinting my taillights, and they told me it's illegal, but I'd more than likely get away with a reminder that it is illegal. The officer said "We'd rather spend our time writing up reports of drunk drivers over smoked out tail lights."

Edit: I also asked about walls, and he looked at me and said "No problems unless you have mirrors, buy why the hell do you need a wall?"

I got a tint ticket from RCMP.. was even an officer me and the guy riding with me knew. Fucking knob.

Texas- only need 1 of 3 rearview mirrors. Any window behind the driver can be blacked out so walls have no problems

i remember something about classic cars where it was passable as long as you has EITHER a right side mirror, or a rear view. A car didn't need both to pass safety inspection, but probably only if it came that way from the factory. I'm from PA and it's cool as long as you have both side mirrors.
