I kind of feel bad for SM if he got pooched out of views/revenue, but I sort of admire the kid for his creativity. Not like he won the megabucks, he won a decent first system that might get him 2nd or 3rd place in a rookie class around here with a professional install.

I love seeing new people get into the hobby, and if this kid is clever with programming/script writing he's likely to go big one day if he gets bit by the audio bug from his first taste.

Now if he won and was flipping it on eBay I'd not be as enthused, but he seems genuinely eager to get into the hobby. I say, good for him, and welcome aboard..... but perhaps find a different forum, because I doubt Steve is changing his mind on this one.

sure it was "clever". But still dirty. Like i said, had he offered not to take it, i would hold him up on a pedestal and give him some stuff any way. But he feels entitled because i didn't specify that you couldn't cheat. Jesus F'n Christ, no wonder every contest you see on TV has a full page of words so small you can't read them so they can all fit on one screen. Because of dirtbags who cheat the system. All fun stuff gets ruined by someone somewhere.

almost EVERY amp test tuesday (except this one) i have a contest where i give everyone a chance and i think i have offered some decent prizes or cash in the past...just for guessing. No strings attached. I have System of the month for ummmm, well system of the month....not "shittiest, don't care" system of the month (although that does sound like fun haha). I like to reward people for their hard work and as stated 9 times out of 10 the person who wins has a 2nd car that needs equipment. Had someone break their POPS off with some gear they won....had someone sell their shit for money (it's theirs to do so if they choose). So just because someone already has a worthy system doesn't mean they don't wanna win some MORE gear. I see no shortage of people who need stuff but unfortunately i see no shortage of whiners either. I also have times where i have gone all the way to 5th place even 8th place once with something for everyone. I recall also giving away random stuff that i reached into my own pocket for and bought items at Sonic Electronix just for finding a clue on their site. I have done that more then a few times. There has also been other giveaways not to mention the things i give to people in my personal life right out of my bone yard. YET PEOPLE FUCKING COMPLAIN still. I guess i can't satisfy everyone.

and one more thing...people think because i have a few nice things that i am rich and just toss $$ around. Well i don't and i am not rich. NOT EVEN CLOSE. When i drop a $100 prize for "guessing" the wattage of an amp (for no reason), it really is a gamble for me if someone guesses it. When i buy 4 amps for a youtube video and give 3 of them away after i am done testing, that shit hurts my pocket just like anyone else. But i like making people happy. So the prizes and the cash i offer is from the heart. That is what pisses me off about people who bitch.

so irritating. If the contest is not tailor made for YOU then it is flawed somehow.
