Budget : around a grand

Camber : .45 ACP (9mm is OK, but love the 45)

Size : 8.6" total length (prefer regular size)

Purchase : hopefully in the next few months if money allows

Wanted to get that out of the way. Any who, looking for a reliable 1911, one to shoot at the range every once and a while, or have some fun with some buddies on a ranch. will not be for concealed carry, or a self defense gun, that is taken care of already... Just have always loved the 1911, always have loved them when I shot them.

Need some direction on who makes a solid performer.

Rock Island is an awesome weapon. I paid like $600 out the door for my weapon plus a bunch of goodies granted I bought it through my uncle but even still at normal dealer prices they're great...

I haven't done shit to mine except swap grips and she shoots awesome straight out of the box.

I have the tactical model aka fully loaded model

Kimbers are nice as well

I have heard kimbers are good, but I also see a lot of people talk about flaws. Something about the stainless barrels are not great quality, rusting, heavy wear on parts of the frame, and something about the MIM's hammers.

Colt

Springfield

Rock Island

The list goes on just a matter of how much money you want to spend. I have bot Colt and Springfields

Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born.

My penis is bigger than your penis

I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.

Rock Island seems to be a contender, way in my price range and would give me plenty to spend on extra mags, ammo, and some other odds and ends.

I carry mine daily and have NO problems relying on it to save my ass if ever the occasion arises... In your case with only needing it for fun/range then I would say yes sir...

Oh and get a parkerized model finish... They are hard as hell to fuck up. Not saying you should try but they withstand lots of wear and tear A LOT
