Cj Kumz Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Just use a dd-1 or oscope cause you definately clipping. Having your sub level full isn't an issue as long as its clean and undistorted. REH Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 If the shop set your gain with your old 2 volt headunit, and you've swapped one in with 5 volt preouts... Your gain is extremely too high.
hondakid1996 Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Some radios don't put out full rca voltage unless the sub level is all the way up or close to it. My alpine 9886 can go full volume with sub level at 15/15 and still put out clean signal. It all depends on the head unit.
Jhunt94 Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Well when I was saying something about his sub level, I wasn't saying that turning it full would make it clip. I was saying if you have your sub level full and the rest flat then most of the time you're not going to be able to turn the volume very high before the bass is overpowering your mids and highs and there's no point in having a max volume of let's say about 40 if you're not going to utilize all of it to the point right before clipping. But of course that's completely preference. 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab.
