had a 2000 F250 CC/LB with a 7.3L fucking loved that truck. Then I got a dodge 2500 with a cummins and a 5spd got rid of that once the injection pump went out on me.

I wish I had my ford back. I would love a 6.0L Powerstroke, just put different heads/head gaskets on them.

So how much of that is real? People change it on purpose or was that part of the satire?

Most people do it to piss people off. I mean they also want to get better performance. Diesel Engines are great for towing... If you didn't know, they provide loads of torque, and great fuel economy. Some of those "coal rollers" can get over 20 mpg while towing when using a performance tuner and putting it in economy mode. My buddy was getting about 28 - 32 mpg while towing on the highway with a tuner, from what the tuner was calculating. The funny thing is those things can pull so much and what I found out is most cummins are only 6 cylinders, and they are making 300-350 hp and from 750-850 ft-lb of torque, Stock.

I could probably go look on the interwebz and find this all out but I do appreciate the responses!

so aside from pissing people off, the smoke is a result of better tuning and performance?

well, yes and no, im guessing, and this is just my thought, that most people that like that smoke there as a way to say, " Hey, im running a diesel." and from what my buddy told me its mostly unburnt fuel, and also can mean that your sending too much fuel into the engine, and it will need further tuning. Most of the time it comes from diesel engines that are heavily modded.
