My First Encounter With "my System Is Better Than Urs"

My all time favorite my shit is louder than yours story came when i was installing at circuit city. I used to get the guys that the JL shop SENT down to try to downplay us. (its not hard its CC). Well the one day I get a guy in a 98 ish tahoe with 20s and screens and 1 RF 15. Factory bose speakers for mids and highs. well he gets out of his truck and comes in and immediately starts talking about how his beat would shit on everyone there. It was towards the end of the night and it got all the installers attention and everyone cracked a big grin. So they started to egg him on and he goes out and turns it up as loud as it goes and starts ghost riding his truck. ..... in park. By now my boss has had enough and told me to handle this. I take a walk out and it sounds awful. I tell him thats nice but not that loud. Of course he gets defensive and says my shit will take anything you got white boy I'll put my truck on it. I head to the front of the store and pulled my car around back. of course he laughs at my cavalier until I open the door and he sees the wall. I had two XXX 15s ran by 2 orion 2500ds. lol. I didnt even have to turn it on before he had backed out of the deal.

Now that was a great story bro !!!! I love that shit. Some of the street bangers think "out of place" . Actually alot of them are out of place. Usually the louder system is the system that never even needs turned on, I have noticed that and for the egotistical idiots.... Just laugh with your buddies and don't be the dumb ass ghost rider who get's 5,000 noise tickets. Trust me it's not worth it. I have had a couple .....hundred myself ...lol.

ok so after league tonite i was sittin in the parkin lot wit my friend and we have the music at a decent volume

this suv drives by and i hear some good lows comin from it so im like aight lets play

i turned the system on play a little jeezy. i get there attention. course i had the trunk facing them and most of wut they heard was rattle but w/e

i go over to the guy cause they say his system is badd. i stick my head in and take a listen. at best it was meh. i wanted him to make it loud but he said he was scared to turn it up louder. i laughed and walked away.

so this kid who was hyping the guys (suv) system comes over and talks to us. hes tellin me about his $150 jvc head unit with the built in amplifier that could prolly push my subs as hard if not harder than wut they are bein pushed by now. he also says somethin about sony and VR3 so at that point im like ur talkin out ur ass (none of the guys sit in my car or see wuts in it for safety reasons)

then another one of the kids friends pulls up in a beat up old caddy. no muffler loud as hell but sounds horrible. he opens his trunk and turns up his system. that kid again yells to me and tells me to come over. i do. He says this is a real system wut i see... 2 prefab sealed boxes. 4 twelves. 2 old old school kickers and 2 mtx jackhammers (the new horrible ones). a jl audio amp for the kickers and a pioneer 760 watt (walmart) for the mtx's. i take a listen and humor him. distortion city. i laughed and left

Great story..... Thats like a situation i had here in ohio. This cocky shop is calling me out at the Cleveland Autorama. So i go up there after work. I'm hearing how these guys have a new company locally called BIG BOY TOYS, and i heard that these guys had a suburban hitting hard and that these idiots are calling me out. I run a company that is 22,000 sq. ft total of car audio retail only. So i get there and go directly over to there location to find there "BIG BOY TOY". Once i got to the truck i just started laughing repeated with like 20 of my customers...... It's a 1983 suburban with 2- american bass 15's and as i started to look , these guys start closing up the entire truck so i wouldn't be able to look at the hokie ass truck. We laughed the entire show. I said " I'm gonna get me a "BIG BOY TOY" a 1983 suburban so i can be cool. LMAO. I thought i was gonna see a new truck with some alpine or Jl or just somethin nice... NOPE. Just crap. Nother example of a ghost rider who needs to hide like a ghost so no one has to deal with them !!! LMAO. Jb

Hmm mine would have been when I had the car in the drive, was playing with the fronts setup - crossovers, time alignment, that crap, so I had the sub turned right off so I could actually hear what I was doing.

Fronts crank pretty hard - not surprising, there's 330wrms going to each side, to a single set of components

Anyway, I'm in there tweaking it and this car comes down the street and parks up just past my house. He's bumping as he comes down the street so I know he's got something... he starts sorta eyeing up my car - you can hear the music coming from it, nothing significant but hey it's there. So he turns his up, him and his friend giving me the hard look and stuff like "yeah, what you got huh? bet you wish you had this..." you guys know the look I mean

So yeah. I ignore it for a bit but they're still standing round giving me that look so I pause the music, pull up a tone cd... dial up the sub, turn up the remote gain blah blah and just burped it, heh. Probably pulled about a 140-some but I had the windows down and the whole garage beside the car was resonating so it sounded mad as... these 2 get back in their car, turn it round, drive off. Heh.

Pretty sure they had 2 6x9's and a 12" in a prefab

mine would have to be wat happen last night. i was pullin up to 7-11 and i was turnin down my gain switches cause there were cops about to pull out. well i ended up parkin next to a neon. and these dudes had a smirk on their faces. anyways were all in the store, and their rushin to get their shit and get back outside. one of the kids said somethin smart as hell to his gf, but i couldnt hear wat he said so i let it go. well they make it outside before me and get in the car, as i make it to my car they crank their system. had to be some walmart shit( id know i work there lol) and one of the dudes get out and start bouncin up and down. so im like ok i got you bitch. i get start it up. and turn up one gain switch and they just stop and look. so i turn up the second one. the look on their face was priceless. its like challengin bruce banner to a fight, and he hulks out. the shit was classic.

ok my turn,

this guy that told me that his 3 12'' pioneer subs hit 148. when i asked him to play them, he cranked them way up and i wasnt impressed. Im not saying that the right person building the right setup cant make pioneer subs hit 148 but this was clearly not the guy. He even tried to play Speakerboxxx off that old Andre 3000 cd. It was loud but no where near 148. we could sit in it and talk at regular volume and hear each other perfectly. But if there was an award for who could make there license plate rattle the loudest, this guy would win hands down. Now i dont know what my system would hit, but when i turned mine on it was clearly louder and cleaner and when he sat in it he saw how intense it was and said my setup was ok, but he could murder mine if he wanted.I wasnt tring to out do him, i was just trying to get a quote on him building me a new box then he started braggin on his 148. lol

Now I know pioneer has some decent high end subs, but these were the bottom of the barrel. He did how ever have a crome, (yes i said the crome one) American Bass pro amp with the factory door speakers running off the Alpine Deck. But i think the real power packer was the 1farad cap with the 8 gauge wire. That has to be a extra 10 to 15 db on its own.

everyone knows me and knows i know more about audio and woofers then anyone there, unless someone just isnt saying something lol. but i disagree with the reason why you didnt turn it up matt. i think you knew he was louder then you

but, my buddy thinks his 3 10" CVR's off a memphis 1100D is the best in the whole county. its loud but id say 143 tops.

and his electrical is all stock and he seems to think his lights dimming is a good thing when i try and tell him shit hes like why should i do that? its fine lol.
